Need some help.
That TREX450 is still having some problems with burning up tail servos.
Set up is a Spectrum 6100 rx / E-flite 40 amp / GY401 / thunder power 2070 with 50C Burst.

Originally: I had a Align 550 Gyro. with the burn outs. the Gy401 didn't fix it.
However I did get 10 flights before burrn-out with the GY401. With Align I was only getting one.

When the Align was on there, the heli locked up 4 X HS55 , 2X 65MG, 1X HS577 and 1X Spectrum 821,

With the GY401 I'm up to 1 X HS65MG.

Any Ideas???:arggg:

make sure its not in digital mode with an analog servo. try a digital servo.

I tried a little experiment to see what would happen.
I took the RX battery and the BEC out of my TREX600.
Plugged it up to the RX on the TREX450.

I found and old E-flite 75 micro servo and plugged in into the gyro. Normally the servo starts jumping pretty hard with the esc connected but when i bypassed the esc with the TREX600 rx Bat and ESC. The servo didn't jump around and it stayed ice cold.

With the esc hooked up, a servo like that would lock up with 5 or 6 twitches of the stick.

With the esc bypassed, I simulated 20 minutes of serious hard 3D flight with the tail servo. It stayed ice cold and ran the whole 20 minutes hard stick, gentle back and forth, and soft left and right. It was flawless.

Could that mean that the ESC is having some probelms?

My 600 is same situation with you, if I use the original BEC that will lose rudder control sometimes, switching to battery-powered NI-CD did not happen after this issue, ALIGN has launched a new BEC and 2 in 1 to fix this problem.

Measure to see how many volts the Rx is putting out to the rudder servo. Maybe the ESC is faulty.

Is there a afforable ESC that works well with the Align around $60.00.

I looked at a couple web sites and there was a differant one than the standard ESC, It's a UBEc. What is the advantage of having one of them.
I called Horizon about the ESC that I have on the TREX450, and I expect to hear the worst. It's electronic, It's online, Your screwed. So I'm already planning on buying another one,

The Align BLG35s are right around your price range, the CC35 is good too, but more expensive. The BLG35X is the newest of the Align ESCs and it's good.

I think I figured out what happened.,
I took the RX battery and BEC from my TREX600, plugged it into the TREX450 RX.
Plugged an old E-flite 75s servo in. Switched it on and simulated some serious hard 3D flight, Servo stayed ICE COLD

Disconnected the TREX600 RX Battery, and plugged the TREX450 ESC back in.
Switched it on (Servo Started jumping around - Locked up pretty quickly).

I feel pretty good about what the problem is now. Aside from the $80.00 for a Servo + ESC and for Added security on the tail servo, a 5.1 V TREX600 V Regulator. I called the LHS and he said that I can all that from him for about $80.00. With the Servo being a 65MG

Hmmm doesnt make seanse but OK... As someone asked before you are not running the 401 in digital mode? Those servos ARENT digital and if you run the 401 in digital mode you will burn out tail servos.
After all the trouble you have had I am suprised you just havent gone and got a good digital tasil servo?

No it's not on digital mode. I've had two differant Gyros on there. I'm staying with the one that I have, the GY401.
Which tail servo would you put on there?

One servo I KNOW works well is the JR 3400G.... there are others out there like the new Futaba 9257 but I cant speak for them. I will however back up the 3400G as i have used it since it came out and I know it works well. Sure there maybe something better out now but until i try it I cant tell you with confidence to go with it. You asked and this time I will say what works best for me.

I went to the Hobby shop again today to try and fix the problem.
I put a new Align 35 a,p ESC and replaced the tail servo.
I asked the Guy which one was the best, because I'm tired of them locking up. He sold me a Futaba S9257.
I put everything together, no more servo probelms. Now I have another problem.
When I power the heli up, there is no motor tones. It's not letting me set up the ESC. it's a brand new esc?

I think I finally have this thing whipped..
Everything is working perfectly, Now I know why the Help Desk and everyone else was confused.
E-Flite ESC required a power source at the BAT connection on the RX of the Spectrum AR6100.
Align back feeds power to the receiver through the throttle.
If there is a power source at the bat plug on the rx with the align ESC connected through the throttle plug, it goes into a protection mode and shut the motor down. No tone issue

I just finished working the problem out,, Thanks for all the help.. This was a weird one.. I guess that's why the Government keeps me around. i always get stuck with the tuff stuff, i gotter done!!!

The 9257 servo is buttery smooth and very fast, you shouldn't have any problems with it. It is my new favorite tail servo.
