View Full Version : Centure Scale Mechanics .30 - Where to get?

Hello there!

I bought a Funkey-fuselage for a 30-helicopter because I was told from century, it would fit.

Long story made short by two conclusions:
First, the Venture30 does not fit the airwolf-30 fuselage, due to the tailboom coming out of the chassis about 10mm too high. You'd have to dremel off the lower part of the chassis and end up having the engine's head poking out from below the fuse.
Second, I have now a Venture30 that I can no more install certain components due to modification for to be installed into fuse...
But don't worry, I'll get that trainer into the air again... :)

Nevertheless, I still like to get that fuse flying...

Since Century sells that fuse as a complete Combo, I suggest those mechanics would fit... :)
Question being, they write of a CN1000S-mechanic being used.
Partnumber gives it away as a Hawk-mechanic, most likely without canopy and standoffs when ordered with extension -S...

Century has it out of stock and does not answer upon inquiry via contact-form...
A check on other shops either does not show the -S or states out of stock as well...

Any ideas where to get that one from?

Anyone converted a "normal" HawkPro into a scale?

Furthermore:
1. Is that clutch-bell up to the daily task or is it worth to go straight ahead with the machined one? Plastic dampens vibrations alright, but does it withstand the heat and force applied in daily business?
2. Plastic tail-gears: Upgrade to metal worthwile? I guess so: Some high-quality lube and they should run a life-time...
3. That Century-Scale muffler, does it do, what it should do? Muffle the exhaust? Is it any good? Comparisons available? I'm not really concerned about power (will be using a Webra36 - lots of power), but more about noise...
3. Does the head of the HawkPro come with thrust-bearings? Is it worth to bite the bullet and go for the all-metal-head-combo (including swashplate)?

I'm not looking into "maszive 3D" - for me not very impressive at all - and I also do not expect a lot of crashing, just some simple scale-flying...
Because that's simply what I'm best at... ;)

Thank you very much for your inputs and advise!

Sincerely from switzerland,

Daniel

frist do you have a hawk pro ?
if not you need Part# CN1000S-30
second if you have the hawk pro you only need a few things
look for the red tail boom for the SCHWEIZER 300 SCALE KIT its shorter and will fit in the fuse with no problems now for the other part if you want to use the same tail that you have now you will need to cut the lugs off and use a hose clamp as per the instructions from century or it wont fit in side the tail of the fuse and with your curent set up it might look like this

Teddy,

Thanks a lot for the advise!

As a matter of fact, I do not own any kind of Century mechanics yet...

But the longer I'm getting no replies from manufacturers, the more I'm looking for second-hand, and that's where your advise will come in handy...

I still got a tiny piece of hope stashed away in a little corner of my mind, that in 5mins, I will receive an email going like "hey, we've just received some new kits, we've putten one aside for you and just need payment"... ;)

Cheers,

Daniel

This topic "century-helicopters" is closed to me...

Maybe another entry into the "lost faith"-thread...

Since the 30-scale-mechanics were out of stock everywhere I looked, I emailed century.
No answer.

After two weeks, I emailed again. Stating that wherever I looked, it was out of stock or not listed, asking whether this line is discontinued or if they have information on when it will be in stock again.

This time, I've received an answer:
Sorry if the previous mail wasn't answered. Sorry, the item is currently out of stock.

Yes, thank you for re-stating what I did write to you.

I suddenly had an idea when I remembered that there was a stretch-kit for the Logo10. Those mechanics are no more the newest, but they still are good stuff and additionally, they're quite easy to obtain via ebay for reasonable prices.
Since electrics don't need cooling-shrouds and cylinder-heads and mufflers etc, I gave it a shot and asked a friend of mine, which is wringing out his Logo for three years now.
If not a perfect fit: There's ample room left thanks to the small mechanics... :)
As I've seen on Mikado's website, there is a stretch-kit for the -10 which makes the boom about 6cm longer, precisely what I need.
And as a bonus: Electrics do not need huge ugly cutouts for cooling-purposes... :)

So, I guess that's it...
Since obviously some people do not want to sell something, others already were glad to take my money...

Might be reporting further on the project in the Mikado-corner...

Cheers,

Daniel

May I ask why you don't just buy the inexpensive Hawk and install it into the fuselage?

Hello RAV,

At the moment, the only bright side of the Raven would be the torque-tube-design.
Backside of the medal are cutouts for cooling, noise, oil, anti-scale smoke-trail and operating costs.

Backside of the Logo is belt-tail and battery-cost, though belt-tension (and the readjustment) is not so much a topic with electrics than I had with nitros.
Pro-arguments are cleanliness, worryfree operation, operating costs and easy installation and tuning.

I did receive the Logo10 complete and RTF for 450$ from another rc-enthusiast.
I really doubt whether I could build a Hawk out of the box for the same price. Buying from a company that doesn't take much effort in customer-care - as it appears to me - while knowing I'd have to buy and convert some additional things anyway, for which I might need some more answers from that "support"...

And additionally, Century are not so much common here in switzerland, so whenever I would have needed a part, I would have needed to go through all that circus again... Mikado aren't that common as well here, but at least customer-support appears to be much more up to the task...

There's a saying that you only have one chance to do a first impression.
I'm *not* saying Century is a bad company - they must have done more than one thing right or they couldn't do what they're doing today...
But to me, they simply failed on that first impression...

So for this instance, someone else did gladly take my money, so I stood away from Century. But maybe someday I'll need something from them, and then they might get a third chance...

Hope I was able to get my point through... ;)

Cheers,

Daniel

Just face the facts, century is a good heli but their is a glitch, They dont have service anything close to it, a lot of us own century products and we try to defend them because we love our helis, but the truth be known you cant get parts or service which means they suck when it comes to thoses subjects which is more important than the heli its self. Service after the sale is more important than the sale itself. I ordered an upgrade of all metal head and the works, new painted canopy 3 flybars exct just to go to the next level and have some extra in case. 9 days later I called my dealer which called century ( nothing shipped because the canopy was out of stock) They had everything else but would not ship anything because it would not make the order. Their response (thats the way we do it) if the canopy was out of stock for 6 months then what tha #$%%^& am im going to do about the rest of the parts? No email no phone call, nothing! This has happened twice, im done with them. sorry to vent.
