Hurricane 550 belt problem

Just putting my new 550 together.
After fitting the boom and adjusting the belt to the correct tension or even slackening it, the main drive feels really stiff!
without the belt, the tail and head turn freely.

There are no twists in the belt, or anything else that looks wrong.

is this normal for a new belt on a 550 until it's been run for a while?

I can't say that mine was that stiff, a little tight but not prohibitively so

It feels quite a bit stiffer than a 450 that's for sure.

Have you tried spinning the head with the blades on - if it behaves like a 450 (several rotations after you let go) then it's fine.

Mine felt stiff also, but with bladeson it spins for a while. A good bit of inertia in the blades.
