Finally a sideframe that actually serves a real purpose other then just replacing the stock one....introducing the new Custom Heli Parts Hurricane 550 Frame. This was built to allow the use of 9650's direct-to-swashplate linkage and newer and different battery arrangements.

Every Upgrade Kit Includes:

1. 2mm Carbon Fiber sideframes, not 1.5mm or G-10 like other frames.
2. 120 degree Servo arrangement for Futaba S9650. Press nuts installed for easy servo installation. Direct linkage to swashplate eliminates the need for bellcranks.
3. Wider battery mount area - Now you can use candy bar, stick, brick and A123 battery arrangements in your 550.
4. Futaba Carbon Fiber Arms - keeps linkages parallel in order to reduce interaction over stock.
5. Integrated bearings installed in CNC aluminum motor mounts, and bearing blocks
6. CNC Aluminum tail boom clamps

USA Handmade by Custom Heli Parts. Made from premium 2mm Carbon Fiber Stock, not thinner and weaker factory 1.5mm...These things are beefy!

Thanks for looking. Also, on a side note, the new Hurricane 200 photos and pricing has been uploaded...have a look!

This is a horrible turn of events I just sold my 9650's :(

I'll be looking forward to a review of these frames. 50 bucks cheaper then the Gaui frames also!

Gaui 200 parts but no kits????????????

there is actually only one kit, and its $319.95 fully blinged, fiberglass canopy, cf frames, cnc head, and tail, motor, esc.

we are running hs-45s and a prototype kong power 2s 850...almost too much power on 2s. serious.

3s is unheard of power.

the new eflite g110 and digital s60's will prove to be a solid testing ground for this machine when we receive it around halloween.

now back to the h550 thread, ;-()

Any pics with servos installed, I am battling to see how the 120deg arrangment works.

Are we going to see a version that takes stock sized servos - really don't want to have to buy more 9650's when I've got perfectly good 821's installed in my plastic chassis?

Look at the first batch of photos again. To me it appears that the elevator servo is mounted horizontally behind the main shaft. The two other servos are mounted vertically on the arms that stick out at 60deg angles to either side of the front of the main shaft.

Kenneth:

you are correct. Here are some prototyping pictures, when we were using cheaper and weaker g-10 for layout.

What's the servo mount at the bottom right for? (below the elevator servo above)

It looks like the idea is to hang the battery suspended below the upper plate with no other support. Is that right ?

What size A123 setup will fit and balance, 8s, 10s 12s?

if you look at the frame, there is pre-drilled slots for attaching the 7s/8s a123 setup to the frame, via velcro of choice.

Tail servo is in the frame? Interesting... (forgive the noob)

So you mean an 8s brick hanging off the top plate that I presume will have the ESC and Rx on top of it ? If so, sounds great :)

mounting your electronics is up to you...there is also slots drilled into the bottom of the frame to undermount a stick battery as well.

yes, of course, dan is busy cutting more framesets out daily...response was overwhelming.

we expect to have many more kits available once dan is done with the cnc work this week. (fingers crossed)

very nice, but it would have been better if a G10 option was offered as not all of us that would like a frame better suited to A123's NEED to have CF side frames. also a frame allowing use of standard size servo's that most of us will have already shelled out for to use in our 550's would have been nice too ;)

Will taller motors clear the canopy? The Zpower Z30 and Century 600+ are pretty long motors and rub the canopy with the stock frames.
