West Tennesse Event in the works.

This just in. I am in the mist of talking to my club president about scheduling April 30 and 31 for the event. This is the weekend after Huntsville. If any are interested in coming please commit, the more I can prove coming the better the odds are that we can get the field for those two days.

well our club pres shot me down. he said that it would be very difficult to be able to get the field for helis only, so i will just have to go the chatnooga fly in.

I bet he wouldn't say the same thing for a plank only event??? You need to do some politicin' !!! I understand your frustration. NE MS bunch would be there !

My Plank club was glad to shutdown for the whole weekend for the Heli event I held several years ago. They were ready for more when the 9-11 happened and my work traveling went from few months a year to 10!

We had a cookout lunch each day that all the club members and registered pilots were welcome to come and eat free. It was good fun. Projected bad weather kept the attendance low but we paid for everything (portapotty .. etc) and broke even.
It can be done but you need more than one heli guy behind it at club meetings. The president can't nix anything, like an event that might raise money, without a vote. It is an AMA sanctioned club, yes????

This is the email that I received from him. Well never mind i must have deleted the email, and yes we are a sanctioned club. He offered maybe one day in the hottest part of the summer but alot of guys here live so far away that attendance for one day would suck. Anyway I am going to the club meeting to bring the idea up again this time in front of everyone.

Take some support with you to that meeting. Good luck, tell them a bunch of MS boys will come up if it is on a no conflicting date.
