Hi All,
I just wanted to know the difference between the 500 DX and 500 3D? Is their any really big differences? If I was to purchase the 500 DX could it be upgraded to the 500 3D?
Thanks,
Michael

The 3D is full ball raced and has a fiberglass canopy
The DX has no thrust bearing in the tail and has a few bushings and a plastic canopy
I'm sure their are other things but that's just off the top of my head.
The 3D is more bang per buck
If your going to just putter around a little then the DX will serve you well.
If your going to lay the smack down on it and make it beg for mercy then get the 3D
just my .02

It depends on where you buy them.
Down here the 5003d has a plastic canopy and plastic motor mount. I wouldnt consider it a blingee machine and really is the most basic form of what i would want in a helicopter with bearings in all the places needed without going over the top. One thing i know about Mikado is the upgrades add up real quick so if the thought is dx -> 3d then start with the 3d , the savings will be noticed

Jeremy,
The 500 3D kit I inspected had a plastic canopy and a plastic motor mount. I know current 500 3D kits have the aluminum motor mount. Do new batches now include fiberglass canopies? Thanks, Hank

No I'm thinking 5003D. They sent out diffirent variations of the kit. Why? I don't know. Maybe market testing. Some get it with a few more perks than others.
plastic mounts were sent with old kits.....metal mounts and mod7 gears are with new kits....simple:clappp

Call up Esprit Model Hank, they will take care of you with the right parts in the kit.

Interesting comment. I spoke to germany (inge) about this and was told the metal motor mounts were a US distributor "inclusion" , not a factory "upgrade". The .5 and .7 mod gears are however included.

Ralf from Mikado says that the metal motor plate is standard. Mine was inside one of the bags, not an add-on to the kit.

That post was why i called Mikado in Germany. They told me it was a US distributor program not a factory one.

As a UK customer I paid for my aluminium motor mount as the distributors couldn't be bothered to reply to my email asking if we were included in the 'update'.
