Today I connectet the ESC and the motor. By testing it, it went
up in fire and smoke. The Gaui 850kv motor made just a few turns
The Batterys, 2x 3s 2200mAh 20c, and the motor are o.k. I've testet them afterwards with my T-Rex ESC. Anybody who had also problems with the ESC?

I have about 12 flights so far on my Gaui 50amp ESC without any problems.

BTW most of the people on the board are US based so are probably asleep t the moment - the rest are probably at work and will be along later :) - I have a day off, so I am just back from the golf course

i have been running the stock 50 amp esc for about 3 months with no problems on either stock motor or the new 1000kv motor, and 6s lipo or 7s A123 cells. I really like this esc, soft start is great. have you double checked all the wires were connected properly and + to + and - to - on the battery plugs? non of the motor wires touched another or hit the motor itself?

I have read some posts of them dead out of the box... but not burning up.

I am also wondering what concept1 asked... are you sure you did short it out or hook it up wrong?

Sorry didn't think about you were on sleep and I thought that working is for people who don't fly RC-Helikopters :YeaBaby:.
Anyway, shurely "triple" checked the wires and protectet everithing with shrink tubes. (Never :...: testing things with open contacts) I have plugs where + and - can't be connected wrong. Got now a new Gaui ESC this weekend and made 4 flights with no problems so far. The Hurry is really flying well (as far as I can tell as an advanced beginner).

I had 1 dead in the box and Cooked the second one after maybe 20 flights.
Now I did crash quiet heavily on the ESC side so I'm not sure if it got damaged or not , but after that no go ! once all the smoke came out ....... it didn't work no more !! :)
There have been other posts of problems with the 50A ESC 's

Mine played up from the start. Very rough when spooling up and the headspeed was different every time it flew. Changed to the Align 75 amp ESC after about 4 flights - made a huge difference. It's now a lot smoother on spool up and the headspeed is consistent.

I also had my GAUI ESC go up in smoke on the first use. I sent an email to Gaui twice and they are not replying. I bought a Castle Creations 80 ESC and the heli works perfectly now. Too bad Gaui has a customer service problem. Nice bird but why do they have to drop the ball with their customers? http://www.helifreak.com/images/icons/icon5.gif

I had a problem with the ESC last week when I found the heli losing power in flight. I brought the heli down okay and when I examined the ESC I found that 1 of the capacitor connections had come loose from the board. When I went to solder it back on the one of the connections on the other capacitor then also came loose! I've soldered them both back on and it is back working okay.
I think the problem is that both capacitors stick out the end of the ESC and the way I had the ESC fitted to the frame the capacitors were occasionally being moved slightly by the wiring and eventually the soldered connection came loose.

I have over 60 flights on mine and couldn't be happier with the stock ESC, after the first 20 flights installed the Z20 motor and I bet the ESC was much happier as it ran cooler. The ESC doesn't like sudden starts or sudden switch to 90 percent idle up. Been using my 6s Lipos and 7s A123s

Happy with my 50A stock ESC with heatsink. Works well and runs cool. Excellent soft start and GOV mode. 100 plus flights!:noteworthy
