View Full Version : Pinion removal
Does anyone know of a pinion puller that works with the larger motors (i.e. NEU 1910-1Y)?
usually if you undo the grub screw, they will just slide off???
I am planning on using 609 loctite, plus the grub screw.

This is the one I use which will work on shafts up to 5mm.

I also use loctite but use a soldering iron on the tip of the shaft for a few seconds to melt the seal then pull it.

FWIW fellas....I use a very small amount of blue loctite on shaft, I mean a "dab" and that is all that is needed. If or when I change out pinion I can use a small heat torch for a second and it loosens off easily and no hard work is needed. 609 and 690 holds almost to well and with a setscrew on these pinions you really do not need loctite at all to be honest.

I haven't found the need for Loctite on shafts as long as you have a good quality set screw and if the motor doesnt have a flat like the Neu or Tango you Dremel in a small dimple and use blue Loctite on the set screw
Thanks for the suggestions - can you get away without a flat spot and just loctite the set screw?

You can on lower voltage systems yes, it only takes a second with a small file though to make a flat spot so why not....:smokin:
