Hey guys, I'm putting some greenies and red dampers on my Rappy 50 and noticed that the flybar is off center by around 3mm. Can someone tell me what keeps the flybar from sliding back and forth in the seesaw hub?

It has been a while since I build this thing and the illustration in the manual isn't obvious. I thought it was the set screws that pass through the arm bushings, but something else is holding it.

Thanks,
Kyle

I was measuring from the outside of the arm bushings to the inside of the paddle on each side and there was a difference there, but the flybar is centered when measured form the center of the head. That's good enough for me.

well I'm not familiar with the 50 but in the 60/90 it is just the flybar control arms set screws so I guess it's the same in the 50.

Yeah, that's what I thought too, but after loosening those, the thing would spin in place, but not slide in either direction. Oh well, I think it is in an acceptable position now.

Thanks.

yes its the set screws in the control arms and there are two flat spots on fly bar ( see pic where red sharpie marks are ) that keep it from spining but allow side to side adj. for centering:thumbup:http://www.helifreak.com/easyaction/attach/jpg.gif

Thanks for the helpful pic. I wasn't sure if there might be something in the center of the fly bar to keep it from moving side to side once the set screws on the control arms were backed out as I had them slid away from those flat spots yesterday and I still couldn't get the thing to move back and fourth - it would only spin. Maybe I wasn't pushing hard enough or something. Oh well.

It might be stuck with rust or loctite, I normally tap the end with a piece of wood or something that is not going to ruin the threads and it get loose.
The other issue is once you get it to move it would probably get stuck again once you reach where the set screws fitted since it tend to build a bit of burr (I hope that's the word) so a little filing or sanding in the area helps.

Sorry I got it wrong the burr forms where the paddles set screws fit (on the 60/90) but I think the 50 does not have set screws on the paddles

I can't take credit for them I'm pretty sure they are from a group of Argentinian comedians called Les Luthiers (they are unbelievable funny) and they have a lot more but the others don't translate well.
