What servo is recommended for the EP550 for non-3D type flight? Three HS-85MG?

There is a thread with the EXACT same title already http://www.helifreak.com/showthread.php?t=47087
There is also a search function...

NO! double NO! He has a very good point!
You ask people here to help you so you should show some respect and spend the time to be courteous and check if the same question has already been asked.
If you needed some bizarre pole count rating for your motor to be able to check HS using a FDR then I'd be OK but you are asking the most BASIC question, with NO research - and then trying to slap down one of the folks that tries to help everyone with an offhand one liner like that
"relax"
WAKE UP!

There is not a single mention about HS-85s in that other thread... and he specifically asked about them in this thread.
I for the life of me can't figure out why someone needs to come down so hard... on someone posting in this forum.
Is there a rule book that I forgot to read? Play nice... is the 1st rule in my Book of Forums
"Relax" may have been inappropiate... but his only reply back to his question was also pretty blunt. It is his thread.
If you don't like what is asked, or what is said (or have a moral issue)... that does NOT make it open season on the other person?
Have you looked at the credance of HF lately... glance up at the logo at the top of this page.
I sure hope we haven't scared him off... this is just as much his forum... as it is ours.
I am not familiar with HS-85s... but I sure hope someone that is... chimes in and answers his question!

Bstock... wow relax
Well, I guess the "HS85" question (which I think is servo related) might have been added to the existing servo thread which seems to be alive and kicking.

OR...he could do as suggested and utilize the SEARCH function and read the following threads-->
Help with a ep550 setup (what servos, gyro go best) (http://www.helifreak.com/showthread.php?t=40018&highlight=HS-85MG)
Cyclic Servos (http://www.helifreak.com/showthread.php?t=21573&highlight=HS-85MG)
HS81 or HS85MG (http://www.helifreak.com/showthread.php?t=13867&highlight=HS-85MG)
HS-85 servos (http://www.helifreak.com/showthread.php?t=12773&highlight=HS-85MG)
All make mention of the servo in question :-)
Have a nice day

Cute Aussie - since your blunt, bordering on rude, post to him started this initially.
your post... along with UKs - "WAKE UP!" - was what brought me to his defence.
play nice guys

How is suggestion utilizing the search function of the site & pointing out there are already similar posts rude? It was meant to be informative, which incidentally is more than you have contributed, i have now given 5 links of reference all you have managed is criticism of the help given....I WAS "playing nice" FYI, nobody else bothered replying for over 24 hours. If you took offense at all though Cralis (http://www.helifreak.com/member.php?u=24158) it wasnt my intent...
Happy Flying ;-)

Thanks bstock. Glad you're on my side. :)
Aussie chap, I'm about to order the above mentioned servos, and wanted a direct answer on it, as my mouse was hovering over the Pay Now button (Since cancelled). Yes, I have used forums before, maybe you didn't know that, which is totally possible. The vast majority of forums do indeed have a search function. However, I knew that before, and didn't find a topic with the exact servo I was using... There was a comparison one, but as you said, 'There is a thread with the EXACT same title already ...', you were incorrect. Exact means exact... and I don't believe you were right here. All I wanted to know was a simple Yes or No for my question. Obviously, Helidirect aren't made for these direct questions, if this is what happens when someone asks a question.
Also, people get new info. Threads become dated. Things and opinions do actually change in RC. I'm baffled at some of the comments made.
So, Aussie, no offence taken. We won the rugby world cup (I'm in South Africa) and I'm wondering maybe somehow you picked up on that?? ;) Oh, I see it's an English guy as well that seemed to jump on this. ;) Next time, Guys. :)
I'm still unclear of if these servos are good or not. Overkill? Maybe get less pricey ones I'm not into 3D.. but I don't want servos failing, or taking toom much juice from my packs, or taking 15 seconds to go from one lock to another. :)
So, am I allowed to try again? Maybe word it better?
I have an offer on 3 HS-85MG servos. Are these recommended? I am a flow hover, figure 8, and some FFF flyer. Are these good, or can I go for something less power hungry and less powerful for the EP550?

Hey Cralis... welcome back!
It is not always like this... Aussie & UK actually know allot about the 550, and they can be a great help.
Stick around!!

Best of luck with your servo choice anywayz...
Ciao 4 now ;-)
EDIT.. P.s I have two very close Seth Efrikan friends who immigrated to OZ few years ago and both swear they will never return to Seth 'Efrika' hehehe They also say i do a better Seth 'Efrikan accent than a Seth Efrikan hehehe

Well, a little secret - we just got granted a 5 year permanent residence visa for Australia! We're heading across in March just to get the visa issued, and then we're planning to emmigrate permanently in 2009! So, see you that side! :)
I have never seen seen AFL before, but I am a big rugby and cricket fan, so it's the right country to go to. I've also actually just come back to SA from a 7 year stint in Scotland - lovely country and people, but poor weather and high cost of living. :(
Anyways, at least when I get there, I'll have someone to fly with? :)

Hey! Enough of that - I'm Welsh!
Although you'd not recognise an accent.
Have you compared the specifications of the 85s with the DS 821s?
HS85 BB 13x29x30
0.16, 3.00Kg
DS821 19x 38 x 37 (roughly converted from imperial)
0.19. 2Kg
85s are smaller and faster .. power / speed should be fine, might be a bit of a challenge fitting them though.

Agh now your talking sense hehehe If you like HOT weather you will love Australia...well depending on the State you chose to live in! ..if you like cold miserable weather where one day is pissing rain and the next is a torrential downpour with Arctic temps MELBOURNE is the place to be LoL...(99% of Melbournites will tell you its BEAUTIFUL place.... forgive them, they know no better LoL..truth is, weather would be on a par with Scotland) I myself live in Perth Crailis :-) We have nice weather year round minimum temps not much below 10 degrees in winter summer its over 40 regularly... Very laid back in WA ;-)
As for flying if your this side of Country i can fill you in on all the clubs (i dont fly at any of them myself though) Local parks, reserves and ovals for me (i only fly electric these dayz) of which we have MANY in every suburb :-) I have 4 within 5 minute drive of my place alone ;-) AND crown land (all bush) right opposite my house needless to say i fly ~6 times a day from my own driveway :-)
Best of luck :-)
p.s If you live in any state other than NSW or Qld you WILL be subject to ALOT of AFL all winter...the other two states also have AFL teams but are predominantly Rugby League states...AFl is by far the most popular and most watched sport in OZ followed by cricket then soccer then rugby for memory...maybe rugby then soccer, if so soccer is FAST gaining popularity in Australia....Cricket is Australia wide of course coz we are so bloody good at it hehehehe [/off topic rant] :-P

UK: Welsh = better than English, so you're off the hook. Infact, it was always a blast in Edinburgh when Wales came up to play Scotland. Amazing group - both of them. They mix well. When England came up though... a different story...
Aussie, I'd love to do Perth, but.. jobs? In I.T? That's my worry. Perth looks amazing (And it's named after a small town north of where I used to live in Scotland!) If there were good job opportunities there for a .Net developer, I'd probably come your side...
We need to do our entry into Aus in March, and we have a flight from Cape Town to Johannesburg, and then direct to Perth. Haven't looked at the flight from Perth to Sydney yet, but.. we might not even do that part.. but we'll see...
I'm going to stick with the Maxwell servos that come with the heli I have ordered. They seem safe... and then once my wife has stopped moaning about the price of the new heli, I'll get the servos. Will pick carefully though...
Nearly killed my 450 this morning. I am suffering HUGE from hay fever after returning to Africa. I was flying about, and needed to rub my eyes. So I landed, and kep the blades spinning while I rubbed my eyes. When I opened them, the heli was leaning over, with the blades MILLIMETERS from the ground. It was slowly falling over... Close shave!
Saved though. Leason learnt: Keep your eyes on the heli even when it's not flying, until the blades stop. :)

When your in Perth obviously have a look about for job availability you may be pleasantly surprised :-) I speak to a few I.Ts on a private site im an admin on and they seem to think there is alot of opportunities, they suggested to me you check www.seek.com.au there were a few .net jobs there recently apparently...when you are here Centrelink is the public employment agency thingo...
Good luck anywayz bud...
