I would like to get a hold of an on/off switch that would accept a female Deans connecter on one side and a male on the other so I could use it in-line between my main battery and my ESC. Is such a product available/made?

Hmmm I would think that would need to be a high amp switch....personally I think it would be a bad idea.

I was entertaining the same thought after I posted. Dumb idea I suppose.

I bought one of these:

which handle enough amps, but never got around to installing it. They're also.. BIG Maybe it would fit on a 600, but for a 450, it's just too much.

Not a dumb idea at all. I think when our batteries evolve to a safety level that we can leave them in our helis while charging...... a switch will be a standard convenience. Until this safety circuitry is available there just is not much need for a switch. For a heli it is not much of an inconvenience, but for a plank it is a PITA !!

Personally, I'd like to have a switch so that I don't have to do a canopy install with it live. Not that I've ever had an issue, but it's just one of those things I'd prefer not to do.
OTOH, it's just one more thing that might fail and make my lovely bird fall from the sky...

One guy at our club did it on his T-Rex 600E and it worked great

What I have seen on some large planks is to wire a Deans female into one leg of the power system. Then make a Deans male "switch" or shorting plug by soldering a LARGE wire across the two terminals. So to power up, you just stick the male Deans in place.

I think it is a real pain with regard to safety issues. Especially with the canopy instalI after everything is live. I do not like the idea of having to 1st switch on the TX, then BEC, then the main battery (as per Align manual instructions) when my face is way too near those nasty main blades. I'm not a wuss, but I really don't need multiple stitches across my mug. I am already ugly enough.
And yes, I know about throttle hold.
