Getting ready to put my order in for the JR 3400G servos.
Figured I'd get the highest price stuff out of the way until the kit comes out.
At $300 for 4 servos, they'll probably be more than the kit :)
Any reason I shouldnt order them now?
They seem to be used on both test ships, so I dont think they'll change them anytime soon.

Why order them now, it wont make much of a difference if you order them later. Might change your mind after the kit actually comes out. But 300 for servos??

wait for the kit incase you decide on some other servo at that time.

If you're going to buy anything for T500 why not buy the giro instead..

Yeah. I just bought 2 batteries, charger, and a DX7 with RX only and will buy the Gyro this week. I bought the 2 450 batteries because speculation is the t500 will fly best on 2 450 batteries for a 6s setup and I can buy more if I go for t500. I dont have a heli now so either way (450se v2 or t500) I'm good to go! Bring it on!

That's like buying baby girl's clothes before you find out if it's a boy or girl.

That's like buying baby girl's clothes before you find out if it's a boy or girl. Or before you find out the misses is pregnant.

Thats funny because I do have a baby girl on the way, and if I wait too long, I wont be "allowed" to buy this new heli. So I figured I would get the small "hideable" things out of the way first.
I have a few 401 gyros, receivers, a HV 45 ESC and an Align 75 Amp ESC, lying around already. Also have lots of good lipos. So all I really need are the servos, heli, and a good motor for it all.
From past experience with align motors, I will probably be starting with just the kit and my own setup.
So really, all i need are some servos.
Looks like four of the 3400G's will be close to $300, or four of the Futaba 9650's, around $200.
I guess I can hold out for a month or so until we see what this things really gonna do. But from my experience with the 600 and the 450, I see no reason that I wont be buying it :)

i'd wait, you are going to be sick if the price drops or even goes down a little before it comes out :D
i doubt it, but still...

So far the only cyclic servos I would consider is the Hitec HS82MG since its metal gears. Im also considering the KO PDS949 ICS servo as its metal gears and with better specs. Pity S9650, S9257 and the JR3400G only comes plastic gears.

Many 90 size heli's (and larger) use plastic geared servos successfully. I woudn't think this is even a consideration.

Bah, the reason hes reccomending metal gears is because he has a 450!! For some reason everyone on the 450 section says you HAVE to get the HS-65MGs
And I'm getting by with S75s just fine :rolling

guys, hitec are releasing a digital 82mg servo called the 5082mg i think. 3.4kg and .9 seconds and they are 34 bucks......i wouldn't go ordering servos just yet.
cheers

I didnt think the 82's were gonna be digital?
I found a great deal on the HS85 MG servos for cyclic, and picked up a nice JR3400 G for the tail too.
I got the three 85's for $15 less than the price of just one 3400G, so i figured I'd give them a try on cyclic first and see how they do. If they're no good, then I'll spend the big money on all 3400G's or check into those 82's that are coming out.
Just need the heli now, and I'm ready to go. :)

The metal gear usage on the 450 is for crash purposes NOT because there is a problem in flight. ALL of us got tired of replacing the karbonite hitec gears as 80% of the time a crash would strip them in one or more servos. Thats the only reason NO OTHER.
So if your not worried about that then go with any gears just make sure the servo is strong as these are direct to the swash! For sure I would have a ball bearing output.

The HS-5082MG doesn't have any ball bearings, so they're out for you then Bob.
I'm partial to Hitec servos myself because the Canadian distributor has a replacement guarantee that can't be beat.

Seeing how the Logo 14 can run on 9650 with a 600mm disc, running these on this little guy is not even a concern, not at all.

I thought the S75 servos were good enough, but when I finally ran out of teeth (from stripping) I broke down a got the Hitec MG's. After installing all I could say was WOW, what a huge difference. The MGs work sooo much smoother and more in sync than the S75's. I guess you will have to experience the MG difference for yourself......

Typically if what someone is running works, they are happy. They just don't know any better. Once they switch, they see how bad what they are running is.
They forget, there is a reason that people give certain advice, and most times here on HF it is due to already trying what you are suggesting and finding that it works less well than the recommended method.
Take tail servos. Lots of people recommending the 9650 as he ulitmate, because that is what they fly. But those who have tried a 3400 or 9257 instead find they work better. Not that the 9650 doesn't wrk, it is just the others work BETTER.

Yes, that is what is going on with me... I know the S75s are crap, but hey, right now they work for me so no use in upgrading :)
