I'll be ordering a HBK2 kit and batteries this week. Looking around it seems that anywhere betwee 1000mah and 2100mah are being used with 1350 being the most popular. I was thinking about getting the 1350 FMA revolution battery, but wonder how much performance and agilitity I'd sacrifice to go up to 2100mah battery. The 2100mah battery is 36 grams more than the 1350. I'm new to flying and I'm not sure how much difference this amount of weight makes.

I started out with a E-Flite 1300mah LiPo. Now, I'm running an 1800 E-Sky LiPo without any ill-effect. It's good for a real 10 minutes of flight time with my 3100kv brushless setup. The E-Sky is cheap and more than adequate for my sport flying. For 3D, I could see going with something a little lighter -- maybe a Flight Power Evo Lite with the same power rating.

gregor,
Keeping in mind that the King2 is a bit tail heavy, it will benefit from
a slightly heaver battery, if I remember correctly the stock 1000 mah
LiPo is around 85g...I would stay under the 130g mark. I think
anything over that would adversely affect the performance of the King.
The "most popular" battery seems to be the ThunderPower Pro-lite
13c 1320mah @ 84g...But, I can tell you that there have been Kings
flown with much heavier batteries ...some in the +160g range

Thanks for the replys. I didn't know about the tail heaviness, but it makes sense.

I fly with a 1350mah 100gm battery, which gives me about 6 min. flight time hovering, and some FF. To aid balance I have a 1" block of foam in the back of the battery holder to push the battery forward .

Definitely a bit tail heavy. I personally like the 2100mAH Li-PO. 161g yep. I fly the Mega Power one actually 2 of them. 13+ Min. Flights - That's why I love them. I even use the 2200mAH 18c which is just fine too. I run batteries from the stock 1000mAH up to the 2100mAH. I have found the Common Sense RC 1650mAH one to be a very good battery. Around 130g I believe. The other batteries are big and heavy but unless you are doing 3D you won't care or at least I don't. It actually balances out the CG better and with the JGF 400DH Motor it doesn't seem to care about the added weight. I don't think I would run the bigger battery with the 3100KV motor but the JGF is a powerhorse, no probs at all. I am also running a T-REX canopy and my Heli is a fat lard. I think it weighs around 585g :o. Oh well she handles beautifully and is super stable. No complaints from me. A joy to fly and plenty of power. I am also running the 290mm Honey Bee Cool Blades and HDX 450 62mm tail blades. JGF 400DH w/9 tooth pinion, Futaba S3154 Tail servo, Futaba S3111 Cyclic servos which are awesome, Telebee Gyro, and Ar6100 receiver. Super fun to fly.

I bought a 1320 FlightPower Evo lite and it works really well.
The 1320 is now a 1345 or something... for some reason.
You can move a lighter pack further forward and get the same balancing benefit as buying a bigger pack, but without the additional weight. The battery setup on these things doesn't easily allow such a thing, however. You have to be creative to get anywhere near balanced.

1000mah and 1200mah are good for HBK2. I used the 1800mah on the King 1 (the older version with gear driven) and it fly ok. But the 1200mah seems better
