Almost finished my 5003d, but I'm getting confused by a few things I haven't come across on planks before (namely external BEC's and governor mode on ESC), so just to check...

My understanding of what I have read is that if I am running the ESC in governor mode, the BEC plugs into the battery port of the rx, and the ESC goes into any spare channel, but not the throttle.

Or if I wanted to use throttle curves and no governor mode, the BEC would still go into the battery port, but the ESC would go into the throttle port of the rx.

Just want to check that I have this right before I go and plug it all in to test.

Thanks,

Ant

You will still connect the ESC into the throttle channel making sure that low stick is throttle off in normal mode, and hi stick is throttle on.

Then set your throttle curve to adjust your head speed.

Thanks ticidytoc,

I feel like I'm doing exactly what your avatar is doing right now - so many new things

thanks again,
Ant

What ESC is that with - the Jazz instructions are a little confusing - I don't see why you have to use a slider channel rather than throttle to setup the governor mode - if you are using the Jazz I just left the throttle curve linear 0-100 in normal mode - set the pitch to flat line to 45% (just under zero pitch) and then tached the HS and found that 75% was about right which I then set in idle up mode. After this I set the normal throttle mode back to linear pitch and throttle.

NB the Jazz 55-10-32 doesn't have a BEC - my preference is to use a BEC separate from the ESC and disable any ESC BEC as in the CC 80 so as to make sure the ESC isn't live when the main BEC/regulator switched off and the main battery still connected ( had a few minor 'incidents' before I found out the CC80 HAS an inbuilt ESC)

Thanks John,

I'm using a Jazz 80-6-18, and have disabled the BEC so I can use an external BEC.

I agree I was a bit confused about the thing in the instructions about the separate slider channel.

So now I have hooked it all up and it runs on the bench OK, and I will do something with throttle curve settings like you suggest.
