What do you guys think about the XES versus the plastic version? Does the XES perform noticably better? What is the weight penalty for all the aluminum?

If I were to get a base kit, what mods do I NEED to do? I understand aluminum bellcranks are needed. I'd also plan on the short boom conversion. My setup would probably include the short boom, Z20 motor, Kong Power 3S 2200 batteries, and 475 or 500 blades. My goal is to build this light-ish and somewhat economically (LOL), so no crazy motors requiring aftermarket gears. What headspeed requires aluminum grips? I mainly fly sport aerobatics and mild 3d.

I'd say 2000+ requires aluminum grips to be safe, but you could probably get away with plastic up to 2200'ish.

If you got the standard and decided to upgrade to the XES Pro, you'd need to buy:
Grips, Grip mixing levers, Headblock, Washout arms, Washout base, Washout guide, Flybar cage, Bellcranks, Anti-Rotation bracket, short boom conversion kit.

The XES is the best deal. Better than the carbon frame version of the kit. Get an XES and a Custon Heli Parts carbon frame kit. Its better (lighter and direct CCPM) than the Gaui Carbon frame.
