Hi Laurens,
Got my Diablo a couple of weeks ago and it looks solid to me. I just ordered the scorpion motor from Scott so I can use the the original Diablo motor in an older MX450 I am upgrading, also adding the Diablo tail to it. I am also using the servo's Scott now sells with the Diablo, they seem to be working fine, time will tell how good they are of course, but I am just a sport pilot, no 3D stuff.

I'm still waiting for a replacement centerhub. Mail took 3 days from the USA to the Netherlands, and already 12 days for the last 50km from the airport to my house. They've been at the door twice when nobody was at home. Talk about bad luck...

I sign our Fed-ex and UPS to just drop the packages with no signature required. Either that or I send it to my job and someone's always here to sign for it.

I've been flying my Diablo off and on since Labor Day weekend here in the States. It is only my second heli; the first was a Blade CX2. The Diablo is stock except for a 220mm flybar, Gorilla paddles with the weights inserted, Gorilla Gear, and a few inconsequential T-Rex parts (mainly shafts). I've had my share of crashes already; I think I've already gone through about 4 spindles, 2 booms, 2 main shafts, 1 tail shaft, 3 servo rebuilds, 1 servo arm replacement, 1 set of struts, 1 set of tail blades, 1 flybar (but many fixable bends), and probably 6 sets of woodies (and I'm sure I missed a few things).
I finally made serious progress this past weekend with some short FF and 90-degree banked turns for the first time (I was getting bored with hovering) and, as a result, most of my trepidation evaporated. When I wasn't doing that, I was just flitting around, mostly tail-in. The really encouraging aspect of my weekend's flying is that I'm starting to get to the point where I'm not having to think nearly as much about stick movements, thinking more about what maneuvers I want the heli to do. It was all facilitated by my decision to start flying higher, probably 20-30 feet off the ground, so that I have time to correct mistakes before the heli smacks into the ground. Luckily, I've already developed the habit of increasing collective instead of dropping it when I get into trouble, which may come back to bite me when I learn to fly inverted.:DOH

Scott: Did you guys ever complete the change to the side plates on the tail case to allow the screw to go in from the side opposite the tail rotor? I'd love to get the new plates to have on hand the next time I have to replace a tail shaft or belt so that subsequent repairs don't require practically disassembling the tail.

Hey Alan-
The new tail housing will be completed within the next few weeks and will be first seen on a special limited edition black CF/ polished aluminum RCT-450 we are building, which should be available before Christmas. About the same time, we will make the housing and side plates in red and titanium grey for existing customers.

Scott

Cool. I'm looking forward to that and the new improved FG canopies. Now if you could only get the full line of parts on the online store...

What sorts of improvements will be in the new tail housings, other than the screw reversals on the side plates?

That's about it for the time being. We have been working on some tail blade counterweights and such, but we are still months away from anything worth talking about since there is a lot of testing that needs to be done.

HAPPY B-DAY TO LAURENS!
No pics of the limited edition YET. We must keep things under wraps for the time being.

I have received my gyro and servos for my Skyshark, should have them mounted in, everything adjusted, and maiden flight by this time next week. Been too busy getting my trainer heli back to flying status, which happened today.

My Sky Shark should arrive Wednesday. I'm pretty excited to get into it. This will be my second heli. The first being a Heli-Max AXE CP. I've had some issues with the customer service and their repair services and that is why I'm not buying their 450.
I saw the Diablo in RC Heli Magazine and was very impressed with it. I'm getting the Sky shark and want to paint the canopy blue insead of gray, but we'll see if that actually happens.
I currently work inside a KC-135 aircraft hangar so flying is a dream come true. I come in an hour early and stay an hour late monday through Friday just to get some stick time. I average 4 to 5 lipo packs a day. For the most part the hangar is empty except for a few vehicles here and there.

Well, My Diablo arrived today, and all I can say is "WoW" What a beautiful
little machine...Photos just do not do this bird justice.
I'll be gathering the needed bits to complete the build over the next few months...
and getting in lots of stick time on the Sim (Phoenix) and my modded HBK2
I really have to give a great big "Thank You" to Scott for the exceptional customer
service and communication, and for the "extra bits" that he graciously tossed in
the case :noteworthy
I just had to share the good news with my fellow Freaks, thanks for listening :YeaBaby:

Hi Larry,
Thanks again for the business and kind words. I hope you enjoy the beastie and be sure to let us know if you need anything else like Air Thunder batteries, a gyro, and/or charger.

Scott
Ted: The latest FG canopies will arrive by the end of this week and we will have some painted blue if you wish to leave your current canopy white.

I've been curious about something: How well do the FG canopies stand up in a crash? My crashes are becoming less and less frequent, but if the FG canopies won't handle crashes well, I'll stick to plastic ones for a while longer.

They look very nice when on display, but the FG (by its nature) does not hold up as well as the plastic in most crashes.

Scott

Just got my RC Tek Sky Shark. Very Very Very nice!
Thank you to all the RC Tek guys that helped out with this one for me. You guys really hooked me up!
I'll let everyone know if and when I get it set up and what gear I decide to go with.
I'm kind of in-between on the reciever. I like the DX6 and can get it at a very nice price w/ servos. On the other hand, I have a guy I work with that may sell me his JR XP6102 w/o servos. Before I decide, I'm going to Heli-Proz next week so who knows, maybe they can get me a good deal. I may ask them if they could set it up for me too. We'll see what happens when it happens.
Anyhow. Thanks again to all the folks out there that helped me get this awsome looking heli.
By the way, where's the manual for this heli??

Spent some time down in Ramona/San Diego and now am finally finished assembling the Skyshark. Now I just need to take it outside and maiden it.
BTW, I am having a snot of a time downloading the manual. I hate pdf, it always locks my laptop up right when I don't want it to. Anyway, I am pretty sure I have the esc programmed right, but if anyone has the info on programming it I would appreciate it. It spools up fine, but I don't know if it has the soft start deal or what, and what it should actually be set at. It is the stock one shipped with the heli.
