How Lean do you all run the OS Hyper 50 ? I read one turn out, one and a half ... I run one and a half but woud like to get more power out of it.
Thanks,
roberto.

There's no stock answer to that, you need to learn how to tune an engine. It depends mostly on nitro percentage, muffler, and weather. Blades and gear ratio, type of fuel (oil percentage mainly) also go into the equation.

http://www.raptortechnique.com has a good beginner and advanced engine tuning article.

Barracuda , thak you for the reply. What I would like to know is how lean regardless of the variables some of you have gone in the needle position. I understand all the variables , sorry I did not make the question more clear.Have some of you gone 1 1/4 out , less ??
Thanks,
roberto.

Low nitro fuel, I've seen them as a few clicks short of a full turn, but that same setup on 30 percent would burn up the engine.

hi,

IŽm running one turn and 4 clicks open, with cool power 15%, and my temperature is about 90 C

I suggest you get a thermometer, and start closing the neddle, and constantly check your temperature, it should be arround 85 C to 110 C. that way youŽll get the most power

Are we talking on the back plate or on the cooling fins?????

Finger on the backplate, you should be able to hold a finger there for 3-5 seconds if you can't its too hot, if its cold you have room to go leaner. This should be checked as soon after landing as you can to be meaningful.
