Delighted to get my new, long awaited JR 2.4 radio today.

Still impressed with the obvious quality of the instrument, as I have been with my "old" XP9303 aircraft Tx (with which I have been flying both planes and helis) .... but not so impressed with having the manual supplied on a CD.
Too much eye strain studying it on my PC, and the bother of having to print out selected pages to have on the bench or at the field.

Worse is that, after how many years of compiling manuals?, they still have too many errors, typos etc
EG: the setup page for settings recording at the end of the heli section has some sailplane headers and all the mixes are (still) numbered Mix1.

EG: p.H-24 "1. From the Throttle Curve function, press the Channel key until “EXP” appears at the center of the LCD screen".
There is no channel key on this Tx! I think that comes from the 7202 manual.

People smart enough to design these radios should be smart enough to get the instructions proof read before publishing.

Unfortunately, documentation is usually an after thought to design and development.

As far as getting a printed copy, download the manual - http://www.jrradios.com/ProdInfo/Files/JRP_X9303_Complete_Manual.pdf - and upload it via Staples' website, pick your local store and have them print and bind it. Cost me $14 with doublesided printing, spiral bound, with a plastic cover front and back.

Should have come in the box considering how much the radio was. :(

Good info bsoder. Thanks.
I assume you could take them the CD too ....

I'm sure that would work - I used the version from the JR site in case there were any changes/fixes in the version they put online.

$14 at Staples you say?

That's what I paid. It'll give you an estimate when you upload and pick your options.

Still should have been included.

Funny, JR and Horizon do not show a printed manual.

They do have the 3 (Air, Heli, Glider) manuals for the XP9303 (72MHz)

Well, sort of printed. Looks more like a nice copier copy with binding.

Whoever sold you the radio should have them. Or Horizon can send one.

I called Horizon and they wanted $20 to send out JUST the helicopter section... plus shipping

I just printed the pdf, used a three hole punch and threw it in a binder. Done!

Cheers,

Call them back, the person you talked to didn't know what they were talking about. What that person though you wanted was the XP9303 Heli book ($18 plus shipping).

The X9303 manual is laser printed/copied, cut to size and has a nice glue binding with a plastic spine. Not thick cover or glossy pages.

I called and the guy didn't know about it, but one showed up a few days later.

What's the "XP9303 Heli Book"?

The XP9303 came with 1 manual for the version you bought. Heli, Airplane or Glider. Each other type was a separate manual. The Tx came with a card to get the others for free, or you could buy them for $18 each.

The X9303 only came with the manual on CD, but Horizon got enough complaints that they went and printed the manual, and it has all three types in the same manual.

Great. I wrote them a note and they are sending one out to me.

CDs are OK, but I don't take my computer to the field.

Cheers!

Who did you write?

Their customer service email on the web page. I've been a good customer. ;-) Not that it matters. Horizon has always done right by me.

Cheers!

I had my manual printed at Staples back in September when I got the radio.

I had all sections printed out double sided, 3 hole punched.
It cost me $8.

Its in a binder (although some guys might say a binder dont fit in your case)

But, if its any consolation,
You own a JR 9303. Its the easiest, most user friendly radio on the market.
With that I ask,
What the hell do you need a manual for??
