Speaking of which, so what is the motor of choice here and on other forums ? I need a base reference model.
Ticidy posed an interesting question so here goes a poll for the 600 size on 10S - we may need to do one for the 500s too:

Good idea John, this should help a lot. I'm guessing the Z-power will be quite popular due to cost. They seemed to work well in the 600E, now I wish I kept that motor to use a a baseline.
Not sure I will use a Hacker since I run a Jazz and I believe there are some timing/switching issues that I won't be able to address. I may have to dig out the Jeti and see if I can work with it.

I didnt vote as i am going to run 10s A123 cells with the 1912H motor.
Motor choices are a real issue now. The Z's are very hard to come by as are the nue's. I have not had good experiences with the asian hackers (A series outrunners). The tangos are a touch small in my view (better suited to the L500 series) Actros are $$$ and i have no idea where the orbits can be bought.

I'd still say that counts Adam - the interest is in the motor rather than exact details of gearing and pack (although that will become increasingly important as people fine tune the helis for maximum power)
I wonder if the paucity of motors is due to the similarity in power units for the Rappie 620 and 550s - certainly I think that clears the shelves of the Zs

Interesting 1st impressions - wouldn't have picked the 1915 or Orbit as the most popular - would the two 'other' votes kindly let us/me know what motors I missed so I could maybe change the 1910/1y as I guess its too high kV at 10s

Actro 24-3 , and 32-3 are missing from list, those will be popular as well imho.

Thanks Shaun - incorporated them into poll and deleted 1910/1y - probably unusable for 10S
