Hi All , I am looking to do a scale fuselage on the hurricane . Does anybody know if they are available or do I have to adapt something?
Am possibly able to get Hughes 500e for .30 size nitro but would like to put the Hurricane mechanics etc into it?

Any thoughts ?

I just ordered a funkey jet ranger fuselage it should be here in couple days so I will see how that fits
I know that viper from sweden has fitted the hurricane into the Agusta fuselage and it looks great
I went with the jet ranger as I don't think I am ready for retracts I will use the landing skids
The Hughs 500e should be able to fit the Hurricane guts athough it may be difficult to access the main packs to change or charge as the front does not come off like the jet ranger and agusta

Where you getting the Jetranger? I wouldn't mind look at them. I agree about the retracts. I'm not ready yet myself. Is it just a standard 3o sized fuse you're getting?

Odieser Thanks for the input. You don't think weight will be a problem?
I'm just hoping that the tail boom will be at the correct height .
Will look at the battery thing !

This is where I ordered mine from
price was right ordered the fuselage and a set of 550 carbon blades and got the EMS 2-5 day ship for same price that US stores wanted just for the fuselage

Ok guys found this
Funkey Size Chart

http://www.centuryheli.com/products/fuselages/fuselcrt.html
It shows possible matches for .30 size helis
So Finless this one is for you !!
Which of these helis approximate the hurricane?
I want the Hughes 500E to go on my Hurricane ..... will it work ? With some modifications is acceptable .
Whats the consensus?
Thks

just recieved my funkey fuselage Jet Ranger for my hurricane I will get some pics together and post them soon. Quality of the fuselage is great. Lots of room for large batteries.
Body is big may need raptor or trex 600 skids to make scale look better Hurricane skids seem small.

I think the best fit Hughes would be the older Kyosho Concept 30's I was thinking about those for mine, they are not Fiberglass but they did have a nice Hughes 500 body, and the old concept 30 was smaller then the current 30 heli's I had one many years ago and the front windshield was removeable for easy access for batteries. not to mention it was very light! I also crashed my old Hughes and it was very durable! I see them on ebay everynow and then. next one I see I am grabbing.

Good job! Very nice. I like the way the windshield opens, great idea.

Thanks can't wait till weather improves so I can fly it
Balance is great with 2 air thunder 2200 25C
I have the ability to move them 5 inches forward or back so I should be able to put in 4 of these for more flight time.

Nice one Odi- Was it quiet a mission to get the frame of the hurricane centred/aligned?

yes took me about two days to come up with a mounting solution and then to get the holes drilled to get everything squared up
I am going to run into problems if I change to the 1100 kv motor as the fuselage at the front/top is so flat that the motor will rub
I had to raise the frame in the fuselage to get the paddles to clear the back/top of the fuselage
I am hoping the stock motor will be sufficient to carry the heli in general easy flightor out will come the dremel and the FG and paint.

Odi and all , look at the attached pic , this is the fuselage I want to use , it has currently got the century hawk mechanics in, but it looks as if the tail section sits quiet high .
Just an opinion from the pic - will the hurricane fit .
My opinion ..NO. seems the frame and tail boom and head combination won't.
But I also only have the pic to go on....

Any thoughts ? Don't want to buy the fuselage and it doesn't work!

Sorry guys pic won't up load ..... lost in my upload file ???????

Woz what name of fuselage are we talking (model and make) then we can search and check it out
My funkey was made for the century hawk mechanics so any fuselage for hawks should work

Mark , it's the hughes 500e . I did post a link to that web page you gave last time but to anothre page showing all the fuselages and the heli's that would match.
Please do me a favour and look at the link and see if you can make some sense of it .

trying to upload again. seems I got it this time !!

I believe the hurricane frame set will fit in the fuselage with the battery mount removed as the nose is short.
I don't know where you would put in a 6 or 2(3S) batteries in this fuselage.
The augusta 109A (which tom viper has built) and the Jet Ranger (mine) has a long nose and plenty of room for batteries.
You must realize that these fuselages are developed around nitro choppers and never were built to accomadate batteries.
I hope this helps
perhaps someone who has fitted a trex 600 into the .50 size Hugh's fuselage can give you some kind of insite onto how that fits and battery placement.
Also upon looking in the scale thread the trex 600's in the hughs bodies there may be a problem with the motor being to high for the front windows/body. I had to position the frame as high as I could so that the flybar deflection on the back of the body was minimal but still get enough clearance at the front top for the motor.Just something else to look at.

Is there photo of your JetRanger? Also, what did it do to your flight duration from before (without the fuse) to afterwards?

http://shop.rotor.com.sg/show-detail.asp?prodid={C7D58784-5B70-47DD-8410-F3E81F4FC344}
as for flight duration before I was getting about 5.5 mins with the stock 890Kv motor and 15T pinion on stock gears and so far with same set up but with 14T pinion to keep headspeed down near 1900-1950 I have gotten near to 6.5 mins on 2(2200mah 25c Air thunder batteries) keep in mind this is just gentle flight

Hi guys .....the saga has begun.
Odi your keen eye was right , it seems that the fitting will go with little bumping and grinding.
The long boom is necessary and can see us having fun when trying to adjust the belt tension and getting the tail rod in place but the length in the nose is fine and balancing the weight should not be a problem. A lot of space in the front for the batteries etc .
will post pics as we progress. should be 2 weeks but noyhing longer than 2 years !!!! :)

odieser

yes I found the long boom was necessary but with the batteries in the nose CG is great
I found that I set my belt tension with everything outside the fuselage then took apart the tail case and fitted the fuselage then put the tail case back on eveything was great.

Odi , yea I agree that is the only way to get the tension etc.
Was your fuse sprayed already ?
can I just use the tamiya colours direct or should one prime first ?

Will post some pics soon !
