View Full Version : DX7 - Why no confirmation on model copy?

Was fine tuning two birds today and somehow managed to overwrite one of my 450SE's setups with the setup for one of my 600s.. Don't know how I managed that and if I had inadvertently poked the wrong button, why the hell doesn't it ask for confirmation before it overwrites the model? My 9C asks every time I even change a model, much less copy one to another memory slot...

I dont know, but after getting my radio set up for each model, I made copies of each program just in case. I only have 3 helis programed into my radio, and the DX7 holds 20, and the X9303 holds 30!!! a few just in case clones wont hurt. :)
just stay away from the model erase button! :P

Someone posted here about having your backup for program 1 as 11, 2 as 12, etc. I thought that was clever.

I've done the same thing when I was setting up a plank.
Completely overwrote the previous model with the new one. Boy did that piss me off, I had to re-do everything on the other plank.
Truthfully it WAS my fault, now that I know how to operate it this problem doesn't happen, but you're right, it would be nice to have a confirmation feature. If nothing else, to prevent the necessity of having to set up an existing model from scratch...

It is very easy with DX7 to copy a model unintentionaly over another model.
I had the same problem.
I don't have the DX7 with me but I think that the scenario is this:
1. You want to exit system mode so you presss the select and down buttons. The DX7 detects the select first and prompt for a model copy.
2. You want to cancel the model copy mode, click on the reset (or is it called Clear?) and the model is copied.
Poor choice of key names and key combinations IMHO.

I never had it happen unintentionally, but as a software developer, this poor piece of coding really irked me as well. Asking for confirmation for an irreversable step is standard procedure. Heck, Vista would make you click OK four times AND require your shoe size for something less important!

Anyone know if there's a utility for the JR/Spektruim radios that'll allow you to backup your data onto your computer? I've got such a gizmo for my Futaba 9C and it'd be nice to duplicate that feature with a 2.4GHz rig...

I have copies of my models, going to change them to 11,12, etc, like recommended above, but I also have a database in the computer with all my settings, incase of accidental erasure. I got it from someone on here, otherwise I would share it with you, but I don't want to take credit for someone else's work.

I was thinking more like the CamPac reader I have. You plug the CamPac into this litle USB device and software slurps out the memory. You can save the config, edit it, view curves etc.. It's very handy.
Something similar for JR would be awesome.
