I have had no problems calling home from the field on AT&T cell service.
Don't remember the # of bars but I never had any issues getting a signal.

Hey does anyone know how good the cell reception is at the field? On AT&T network?
The field is located less than a 1/2 mile from an interstate. There is several cell towers within sight of the flying field. Cell service, air card service is excellent at the field.

Hey... as a newbie pilot I look forward to coming and crashing.. I mean flying and learning from some of the best pilots in the hobby, such as Wayne and H to the C...
Gene
Wayne is pretty good. I don't know about that other pilot you mentioned. He was playing with Barbie dolls last time I checked. LOL

Really? Last time I saw that other pilot, he was trying to get me to buy some cookies.

Well, I guess I'm red to go to Bham. Just got my state tax refund check, got a gift card to Longhorn Steakhouse, and my employer just gave me some extra cash for perfect attendence...got my vacation approved for the dates required...so...whooo hooo...I'll be at B-ham;)

Jared, bring it to me! We'll have in done in a few hours :YeaBaby: I was gonna say you'll have no problem finding help at the event, guys like to wrench there. But if you can get it built before then, that's better...more flying time.

Went out to the field on Saturday the 1st. Field is in great shape. Several members were there flying. It is a beautiful weekend here. Temps in the mid 60's to mid 70's. Hope it stays this way. Trees and flowers are starting to bud, grass is getting green. Also a plus is Daylight Savings Time goes into effect on the 9th. So we will have more daylight hours. LOL
Manufactuers and vendors have been generous in donations. So far I have Titan 50, and an engine and several other goodies to give away to registered pilots.
Also the Ditch had about 6 inches of water in it yesterday. So it should be nice and soggy for its victims.
See some of you guys next week around Tuesday/Wednesday 11th-12th.

I'm really looking forward to this one. I effectively started in this hobby about a year ago but my first fun fly was Huntsville so I missed B-Ham. Based on all I've heard and seen pics/vids of, it was a mistake to miss it and I am planning on not making that mistake again. Just need to request the time off and coordinate with the other Tallahassee freaks and we're good to go!
I think I'll be staying away from the ditch though. It seems too hungry for my taste. ;)

DEFINITELY looking forward to this one. Will be nice to get out of the cold here in OH and hopefully into some warmer temps down there.

Well it is warm this week. Mid to high 70's today. Suppose to rain tonight and then be back in the 60's tomorrow, Just typical nearly spring weather here.

Sometimes FF's are also kind of Swap Meets. Although there will be vendors aplenty at the event, are any of you bringing machines you'd want to sell/trade? Just curious as I'm thinkn' but undecided on a Freya I have.

I'm on the look out for a NIB YS91SR and Muffler. So far no one has one in there shops that I can find. Hoping I might get lucky with a vendor at the event.
Also as far as camping on site where are we to do that? I'm thinking I'll try camping if It's to uncomfortable I'll then move to a hotel. But I'm thinking I'll be there Wed afternoon.

You can camp at the field ... There's also a handful of great state parks near by like Oak Mountain ...
It was 74 yesterday and not a cloud in the sky.. What a great weekend..

I'm thinking about coming. I'd have to camp as I don't have money to spair for a room. A few questions.
How far away is the nearest toilet? I don't like portapotys.
Does it have A/C outlets so I can charge my Lipos?
This could be really fun! Just me alone in my tent, hugging my helis....

nearest toilet may be someones camper, nearest store is a bit over a mile if I remember correctly.
Power will have to be leeched off a generator, bring a couple gallons of gas or a couple bucks for gas and you should have no problem finding a charging station.
FWIW: WalMart has some little camp crappers for a reasonable price. In a pinch a trash bag and 5 gallon bucket make a primitive privvy.

Yep, power will not be a problem.....plenty of Freaks will be in attendance! Wayne and I both have big noisy generators! Be glad to lend some juice!
Come on over Jeremy......You'll have a blast!

Do I have to be an AMA member to fly?
Yes, and DavidH stated he could sign you up at the event
