It's not even been two weeks since I bought the CX2. Been havin fun with it until the other night when I smacked it into the garage floor. I hit the door opener and it fell landing right on the inner shaft head hub. Inner shaft rotates real smooth but the outer shaft is slightly bent. I can see it when it's rotated at a slow speed.
I put on all new blades and a fresh battery and gave it a try. It took alot more throttle to lift off and even more to stay in the air. Max height of about five feet and even lost that real quick. Felt like when the battery runs out when everything was normal before the crash. Now it only takes about 30 seconds and it's done. Did the same thing with both batteries. I removed the body, skids, battery tray, blades upper and lower and removed all linkage from shaft. I've got it down to bare bones now. I spin the inner shaft and it's smooth as silk. I hear a gear grinding noise so I removed the Inner shaft drive gear. That left only the outer shaft and gear with the inner shaft still in place. Applied the power again and noise was still there. Could not see any damage to the motor gear or the outer shaft gear. Still it sounds real crunchy. I cannot get the inner shaft out buy pulling or pushing on it. I really don't want to try tapping it out with a hammer and bend that one too. I guess it's stuck inside the small bearings. So, that's my sad tale!
Have any of you guys ever experienced this? Any ideas to remove inner shaft without destroying anything else? And ideas why the great loss of power so fast?
Nothing seemed to be binding other than the gear noise. Anyways, thanks to all for reading this. Hope you guys can help!
Thanks!

Well, my first reaction is that you may have some gear tooth damage. It can be hard to see sometimes. Regardless, your outer shaft needs to be replaced.

I've never bent one so bad that I couldn't get it out of the frame! That's a good one!

Now, to get it out, one way would be to try to straighten the bend enough for you to get it out. Another way would be to use a hammer and tap it out. A third way, if you have a Dremel or something like it, would be to cut the outer shaft.

Now, I have to ask the following. I'm not trying to be patronizing here, but you DID remove the collar on the outer shaft, right? It sits just below the swash plate.

Oh, and given the severity of your wreck and the fact that you said you couldn't see any tooth damage on the outer shaft gear, you may have trashed one or both of your outer shaft bearings as well. As long as you're ordering a new outer shaft, get the bearings as well.

Becareful if you try to tap it out. You may damage the bearings from the side impact. You might want to get new bearings just in case. Even with the sightest bend on my CP main shaft, getting it past the bearings is the hardest part. I put the new shaft on and it slid right on. Not the same heli but the same idea. Good luck!

One of the things i have found out is that as you use it cuts groves into the inner shaft because of the screws if you tap the inner shaft lightly it will pop out but it's a good idea to have some bearings around.
