Align will just have to recognize just how $$valuable$$ Bob's build videos are and "convince" him accordingly! ;)

I really dont see the need and I have too many heli's anyway.
See...he gave it away right there... Any Freak knows there's no such thing as "too many heli's"...

I voted no since I just bought a Logo 500 3D but it looks like a fun helicopter. If I didn't already have a T450, the T500 would be my choice.

I've been thinking about getting one but since doing the tail mod to the 450v2 I'm certainly not going to rush getting the 500. Knowing the problems that both the V2 and the 600n have had in the first few batches I'm going to wait a few months whilst you beta testers work out the bugs... then I'll get one.

I will be getting one for sure.
Running off two 450 packs to begin with,
if I'm not happy I will go 3200mAh 4S or 5S.

I already Have enough, though it would be another fun project, I would love to have one but don't have enough $$ at the moment

I posted yes but yesterday decided to go for 600N. I already have a 450 SE V2 that i can fly anywhere and i got 600N because i thought in the end T500 would almost cost as much as T600 (except for battery cost).
I think T500 would be a very good machine for people who dont have a 450 already, just my opinion.
So No T500 for now.
Thanks

I agree. I don't have a 450 but want a smaller electric to fly at home or during lunch. I have steered away from the 450 due to its small size and flight characteristics. I have two .50 nitro machines and can't make it to the field as often as I'd like so I desperately want something to fill the need. I am eagerly awaiting the 500 and plan on selling one of my nitro birds to cover the costs. I think the 500 has the possibility of becoming the hottest entry level heli for new pilots.
I am going to need a lot of help entering the e heli world. I am definitely looking forward to Bob's build video.
I have 450SE and 600CF also time and place for 15-20 flights per week. I think I have no room for 500 for now. Helis deserve to fly - not to sit in closet...

not to sit in closet...
Thats a fact jack!!!! Align has sold a million since the FIRST gray plastic 450 came out (so I am told).... If that is the case imagine how many are sitting unbuilt or in a closet not being flown :(
I dont think those that buy the 500 will leave them sit though!

If you are looking for a heli you can fly in a park or something easy to carry with you. 450 is an excellent choice compared to T500. Carrying case makes it much more convenient. I dont think T500 would be that convenient to carry around where ever you go.
Just my opinon. Would like to hear other peoples opinions on this.
Thanks

I agree. I think there's a good possibility that after the newness/novelty wears off from this heli, alot of people may decide it's too big to carry around or travel with everyday, and that its too small to handle wind and such like a 600. It seems like everybody right now thinks it's the perfect size, but for alot of us it may be the wrong size, too big for some occasions and too hard to see or too light for the winds.
That being said, I do plan to get one!!!;)

Geeeez, I must be thinking entirely the wrong way............. as Finless stated in the video this is a fleet......... 450 ..........500...........600, I am just keeping the family together and completing my fleet. Trex and Flight Power. I see FP already has those 6s 2500 packs listed on their web site. Bob you need to send them a photo, they don't have one yet. I think the 500 would be the perfect size to carry. And actually, as I learned this week, my 450 handles the wind rather well. I have been flying it out at the beach this week, and it's been holding it's own.

Hmmm your right! 2500 Evo25 6S.... BUT I personally gave FP the heads up that the Evolite 2500 6S was probably going to be a desired pack. I hope they do it!!!! I dont see that on the web page yet....

I prefer the idea of using 2x 3S packs, that way I can fly either the 450 or 500 without buying another set of packs. :)
BTW, for those who think a Trex 450 doesn't handle wind, need to visit bullaculla out in Hawaii at their field. It is on the windward side, and they don't call it windward for nothing.
I can.
Lipos alone you save half of the 600's cost. As for balancer, you don't need to balance it together. Just charge them seperately like any 450 pack. If you already have a 6S charger, there's not much extra expense besides wiring the 2 balance connectors together. They both end up being 4.2v after a charge anyways. A single 6S balancer will balance it just fine, it might take longer because the pack may not match completely. You also get the flexibility to share packs between the 450 and 500. I don't see many people bundling 4 450 packs on the 600. Too much work. 2 450 packs aren't bad at all.
RC,
I disagree with idea of charging them separately or using any 2 3S packs that you just happen to have laying around. I have done this and can tell you that it is not a good idea.
The main problem with different age battery packs is that the older battery pack tend to discharge faster. Even if you just charge and balance them separately, one battery pack may discharge faster than the other pack. When you fly with this battery combination, the one that discharge faster will puff (I know. It happened to me :) ) You end up destroying the pack or worst yet create a fire because of over discharging ( I should have taken a picture of that pack and show it to everyone what not to do, but I did not carry the camera that day. The pack was as plumped as a banana and was very hot)
I ended up buy new sets for my Hurricane 550 (2 sets 2200 mA packs, and 1 set 3200 mA packs) and only charge/balance/discharge them as matched packs since. I never have anymore problem since that day.
So, the short answer is Yes, you can use your existing T-Rex 450 packs to fly, but you will end up ruining them very quickly.

What if someone has 2 T-rex 450 packs and they have the same number of cycles on it? Then it will work.

You need to check them out. I fly with a timer, log my battery voltage after flight, and charge put back in mA for each of my battery pack in an Excel spreadsheet. With about 1000 entries in the spreadsheet, I have very good idea of the condition of all my battery packs. I could guess pretty accurately how much current was used based on the the voltage measured 15 min after a flight.
