I have decided after reviewing my inventory NOT to get one. I really dont see the need and I have too many heli's anyway. I have 3 in this size range already!
I dont think this heli is anything special and so I have decided I really dont need one. THis means I also wont be doing a build video either. Sorry folks.
Bob
Hey if I got one for FREE I'd have a change of heart too! I guess if they can sway Finless, they know
they've got a good chance to sway all the HF's out there. I think the $560 is too much...I'll still say no
thanks, unless anyone wants to give me a free one too!

I really dont see any problem with the price for what your getting.
I got my CF for $539.99 shipped, and after all the hype settles down, they'll probably be anywhere from $499 to $550.
So you have:
Kit $540
minus blades $60
minus motor $100
minus ESC $100
minus CNC Grips $50
minus CNC pulleys $20
Leaves the cost of the actual kit around $210
Even if you dont count the CNC parts, you still have a great deal at $280 for a 500 size kit.
Not bad at all in my opinion :)

I guess I gotta post it here to.....
Dude that was a joke when I said that and even if I didn't get one free from Align I would have for sure got one using my own coin....
All I got to say is that if you are in marketing.... I WOULD FIRE YOU as it is clear you don't read and comprehend at the same time

Would the motor and ESC really cut the price down by $200?

Yup,
typical 60 AMP ESC you would buy for this heli if it wasnt included:
http://www.readyheli.com/Castle_Creations_Phoenix_60_ESC_p/phoenix60.htm
$120
typical motor you would stick in it if it wasnt included:
http://www.readyheli.com/Kontronik_Kora_15_14_Brushless_Motor_p/kora15-14.htm
$135
So definitely.

Those prices are a bit high.
I got my ph80 for $98 shipped, and I've seen the 60 for about $85.
I don't know how much the align motor is going to go for but I got my hyperion 3025 for $85.
About $350. Not bad for a fairly blinged machine.

I doubt the 500L motor could be considered worth $100.
Have you seen how many 600XL motors have malfunctioned on the Trex 600? I think one guy was on his 7th, and that one failed. http://www.helifreak.com/showthread.php?t=53071
Align electronics aren't bad, but usually you save money in the long run if you can buy quality components from the get-go.

OK, I agree the Align motor may be closer to $75, but the Align ESC, as long as it doesnt catch on fire is superior to the castle ESC.
Remember, the align will have a built in SWITCHING bec, not a crappy linear one, with three programmable output voltages (5.1v/5.5v/6.0v) and is capable of running the BEC on 6 Cell lipos, unlike most other 60 amp ESC's, including the Castle which is limited to 3 cell lipos with it's BEC.
The value of the Align ESC, barring any fires is well into the $120 range.
I dont know of any other 60 AMP ESC's off hand that can run 6 cell lipos AND have a built in switching BEC.

The Align ESC has a suggested list of $92.99 US. It's up on the Align site now (http://www.align.com.tw/shop/product_info.php?products_id=2001).

Yep that's our failures. But, we have been flying these motors HARD, on my 600 the XL motor lasts forever. I wouldn't be scared of flying the stock 500 motor. Hard, continuous 3D and general flying are 2 completely different animals!

I generally don't care for align ESC's.They often have a heat sink (can't tell if the 60 does or not) and still get warmer than the Phoenix which means it is not nearly as efficient.
I do wish Castle would lose the linear supply but I bought several ubec's for $8 each so I don't have to worry about that for a while.
