Based on your knowledge at this point in time, are you planning on buying a Trex 500 ? I am just curious how many people are really interested.

Yep, Wesley has been wanting something smaller than a 600 and I'm not wild about 450 size machines. Lepton is too many $$$$$, Hurricane is nice but not a lot of dealers.
Trex 500 will be everywhere!

I voted undecided, i will wait to see $$$$ before i commit. Align prices have been creeping up recently and its not the same cheap and cheerful as it once was.

Any word on price range??
What about parts and upgrades available with the initial release?
So how big is the 500 length wise? I would like to see one next to a 450 and a 600 for size comparison.

Great pictures Kevin........thanks much, that just sent me over the top..... now, I need to go fly, then come back and start making more room and figuring out what configuration servos, gyro etc, I am going to use.
Birdbrain, I guess some people are devoted to other brands, ie: Logo, just like we are Trex fans. Or it could be the wife won't let them ! :rolling

because mainly of the locations I am limited to fly at. With the Trex450 I can just whip it out in front of my and have enough room to open the motor up and get alittle crazy with it. During my lunch breaks theres a park thats large enough to do large backwards hurricanes, with the Trex500 it may still have a little room but it would be pushing it.
So yea the Trex500, definitely looks like a keeper. I'll have to wait and see the reports and the different type of setups give what kind of flight time,etc..etc...

Well, I blame Finless for making me watch the interview with the 500 video's up top. Now I want one bad! It looks to be the same size as my Eco8. I find the Eco 8 the perfect size for flying around my yard, and in the park behind my house. Battery cost should be OK too. I used to want the 600, but, that things needs expensive, monster batteries to fly right.

The Trex 500 is in between those two sizes. :)

I know, I was going to get the t500 instead of the 450 and have that as my "smaller" heli and get a t600. But I decided to go with a 450 and a Logo 500. The 450 has such a strong support right now and is a proven heli, and then for my midsize I chose the Logo 500!
The main reason I passed on the trex500 is because I figured by the time some one outfits the trex500 with the right digital servos/electronics/etc your not too far from a t600 or Logo. Your really only saving a few dollars on the costs of batteries and thats only minimal. IMO.

But the reality is there is a BIG size difference between 450 and 500 and between 500 and Logo 500. 325 to 400 to 500 mm blades. 3 - 4 inches per blade makes a big difference.
And the 450 and 500 use the same packs, so no increase in cost there.
And overall, I find helis cost about the same to outfit. Look at the Gaui Hurricane 200, $320 for the kit, and while servos are less, you still end up with over $500 in the heli with a good gyro.

There is a cost difference is packs, the t500 uses 2, so the cost is double what the 450 uses!
I was planning on a t500 and a t600. BUT then I figured if I equipped a t500 properly I wouldent be far from the price of a t600....so....I decided to go with a t450 and a t600.....then I fell in love with the Logo 500 3D. I've replaced the t600 with the Logo as my middle weight bird! I KNOW that the Logo 500 is bigger than the t500. I'm talking about $$$$$$$$.
The T500 in the vids had jr3400g at $75 each and if it had 2 450 batteries that means about $130 to $140 per pack! Again not too far from the cost of a T600!
In all farness, still much less than outfitting a Logo 500 3D V-bar!

I already have a Lepton and the T500 is making nothing better than the Lepton as far as i know. Beside, JR is about to release the super Voyager E 4S version. It will probably be of a better quality than the T500. Beginning by the power section with a Hacker A30-8XL motor and Hacker 70A esc. 282€ naked and 400€ with power pack. Full metal main and tail rotors. Including tail grips. And JR spare parts prices are really soft compared to Hirobo. i will probably by one to have my own opinion on it.

And what about the new JR Super Voyager E 3 Cell ? It's cheap, solid, easy serviceable and the lightest of these mid sized machines.

There is a cost difference is packs, the t500 uses 2, so the cost is double what the 450 uses!
Yeah, but I already own 8 3S 2200 packs for my 450 - that makes four 6S packs for a 500 without spending a dime.
Hitec 5082MGs are going to be ~$40. Now those "little" cost differences are much larger.
Trex 600 6S 5000mAH packs are TWICE the cost of 6S 2200 (makes sense).
I'm glad you could afford to buy and crash a Logo 500. I know it's a nice machine - I just have to set my sights to a more modest level.
