What are your thought about them, worth it or not?

Infact, I would like to know ANY improvments you guys have done to your cx2 custom or otherwise.

Not gonna mess with updates for cp pro until I have a better radio when the b400 arrives.

I finally picked up the Extreme 180 motors and am very happy. The heat sink fit just fine and paired with the Thunder Power 910 battery, lots of power and longer flight time. Later this week I plan on putting on the silver brushes, said to add more power, we shall see.

Do you notice more "cogging" on these motors? I installed them and I can feel coggings in them. Then again I may have the mesh too tight. Dunno. I'll have to check.

I dont know if I'm right, but I heard that cogging is a good sign, because that means the magnets are nice and strong.

Well, I am happy to report that the extreme motor upgrades are working great. 2 of my sons have the cx2 and we have done some side by side comparisons, a noticeable difference. I also installed the silver brushes and am using the TP 910 batteries, great combination of power and long flight times. I get well over 12 minutes of fairly aggressive flying.

Other mods for me? I started using the tri-flow red grease in the bearings. it made another noticeable difference on smooth and quiet. To make the batteries fit, I cut off the tangs for the stock batteries and use velcro to hold the battery in. I wrap a thin strip completely around the frame, going between the motors and main shaft, with an overlap around the bottom of the battery. the battery has a small piece of velcro on it to keep the battery from shifting. And because the battery tray/landing gear is held in place with the pressure of the velcro, I removed the 4 screw holding the tray on, saving weight and the hassle when I have to replace the shafts.

Where did you guys buy the 180's and silver brushes?

I got my motors and brushes at the LHS, but I noticed boomtownhobbies.com has the motors and brushes at a better price.

Another update on performance tuning: One of my sons was over with his cx2 and was having trouble getting his new 3in1 to adjust. All new blades and shafts but could not get the high gain shake out. I noticed that he had installed the retaining ring on the outer shaft with too much pressure against the bearing. We took all the shafts out, used red grease on the 4 bearings, put it back together and bingo, it adjusted out perfect and flew great.

So..... assemble the shafts with MINIMAL pressure against the bearings and keep the bearings greased. Tight and dry don't mix!!

I just put a set of these motors on mine, and after the first pack, they measured 120 degrees, which seems a tad hot for just one. Has anyone else run a temp gun on theirs before and after for comparison?
