Myselft still a noob cant tell you if its the way to go but I did burn my orig tail motor out and orderd this http://www.bladecprepair.com/man_tr_dd_conversion.html got impatient waiting for the parts to arrive (only took three days) but thats just me not wanting to be grounded so I installed an orig replacement the day before the parts arrived.
Now I will wait for this one to go first, but at least I have the parts on hand when it does.
I cant speak for performance but I have read a lot that did like it and when I stumbled on the link I provided for you with all the parts needed and detailed instructions I went for it. So when this motor goes, I will install this upgrade.
Hope this helps

Definitely do the DD tail mod that LockMD provided the link to, it is well worth it. For less than $30 in parts, its the best investment I ever made in my CP Pro! My heading hold gyro now actually holds, the stock tail was always all over the place. I crashed last week, and wiped out the tailfin and boom that they recommend on the website, I have since figured out that you can use the stock Blade CP / CPP tail piece, you just need to elongate the mounting holes a little.
Also found that switching Tx over to my DX7, and ditching the crap stock Tx helped a multitude of control issues.

DD tail is the best you can get without spending a ton o cash for a belt drive. It works a whole lot better than the stock tail.

I'm setting my DD tail(GSW motor and prop) up now...
Is it better to mount it to "push" or "pull" air across?
I have my tail set up with the motor on the right (when looking at it from the rear of the heli) and pulling air accross for cooling.
How do you mount the DD prop to the shaft?
I pressed mine on and it seemed like a tight fit, but it eventually pulled itself off (lucklily I was just spooling up). I read in the "sticky" about an adapter of some type?
I'm also setting up this tail with the G90 gyro for the first time...(I'm running the gain wire in the gear channel, pot set to 100 and contolling the gain with my gear channel endpoint). I have the DX7 and I notice tail drifting left(other than the drift it is reasonably steady) and no real wag at %100 on the gear/gain setting...???
Any extra info would be helpful.

Wondering if you ordered the tail blade that doesn't come with the adapter. The one with the adapter (see attached pic) has a short shaft that is threaded, and two set screws. You put the shaft on the motor, secure with set screws, add one washer, insert the rubber sleeve into the prop, slide over the shaft, add one more washer, and the nut, and you're done. Very secure.
I've had mine set up to push, and pull at one point in time. Perfomance is the same either way, and didn't notice any difference in motor temp. My first statement was a bit confusing without explanation. Had the DD conversion tail fin GWS, crashed and broke it, rebuilt with stock tail mount which does work you just need to elongate the holes a bit to compenate for round motor -vs- stock with flats, anyhow GWS tailfin setup pushed, E-flite pulls.
I am also running the G90/DX7 combo on mine. The pot on the gyro has no effect when using the remote sensor wire, the DX7 is controlling the gain. Drift is typical with the setup we have, usually not much at flight start, but increases as the battery voltage drops, or tail esc heats up not sure which. I've found it's not too difficult to keep up with, just annoying, don't know if its a characteristic of this gyro, or the motor driven tail, just used to my GY401 on my T-Rex that is rock solid! I can usually run 100% on mine as well with no noticable wag.
I've read the DD tail motor doesn't last much longer then the stock motor. Also, some have a lot of trouble keeping the adapter for the tail blade on the motor shaft .
I have gone with the two stock motor setup.
I have read that using the two motor setup will last a very long time.
And,if one motor dies , you can still fly and not crash!
I like having a backup motor. Just seems like the best way to go .
I run TP 1320 3 cell batteries so,the extra weight on the tail,is no big deal for me.

jedi: i have my tail prop on the right side of the heli if you are looking from the rear. your question about having it push or pull is something a lot of ppl have debated. honestly i dont think it matters since the tail motor is being cooled by the downwash of the main rotor anyway. i personally would stay way from the adapter. i just feel like it's something else you have to replace if you crash if it gets bent, not to mention you gotta worry about it's tiny grub screw being able to keep hold of the motor's shaft. dd props are like 89 cents each at the lhs, just keep a bunch of them handy. if you crash just push the new one on...simple. you said yours came off in flight, were you reusing it at all? if you have to pull it off for any reason it needs to replaced with a brand new one since it will never hold as well as when it is first pushed on. i have never had a brand new prop come off in flight, only ones i tried to reuse! 89 cents is cheap insurance for making sure you dont have equipment failure i think.
The dd tail has been proven to run up to 17 hours by GinoCP, where the the stock one will last 10 if you are lucky. That and the fact that it's much lighter than the dual tail mod is why i prefer dd.
A lot of guys have had trouble with remote gain. I personally run my cpp without it. if you have troubles with it, just disconnect and set the gain on the gyro's pot...and you're done.

I got the components for the setup shown in the above link but, ended up purchasing them separately. (bphobbies was out of stock at the time). A heatsink definately helps too.
I'm still on the stock 4n1 but, I do like it better than the stock setup so far. I should be picking up the ESC and gyro in the next few weeks.
I also agree with carlo_the_wonder_frog. Bang for the buck you can't beat it. Belt mod just isn't worth it. save the $100 and put it towards your next heli when you progress. :)
