Was looking at the main grips, the insides aren't parallel i.e. at the back it's 14mm and at the tips it's about 12.5mm. Makes bearing installation tricky. My blades are 12mm & would put a 1mm shim on both sides but dunno if the grip can open up enough to do this. How do you guys fit your blades??
As you said, 12mm blades and used a 1mm shim (included with the blades) on each side of the blade. Requires a bit of prying, but they fit.
Put the bolt through the grip, one shim, and just barely through the blade root. Slide the other shim in on the other side of the blade and push the bolt the rest of the way through. Easy to say, harder to do !

It is a pita but the grips are designed that way for a reason. (ok, I don't know the reason but I think there might be one :) )
I put the shims in and feel comfortable with the setup. There was some cussing involved along with pushing the edge of the shim and wiggling the blade tip up and down a lot while I shoved the shim towards the bolt hole. As for installing the bearings, just slide them in sideways near the root of the grip and then orient them to fit. It was much easier to do it that way instead of trying to expand the tip of the grip enough to get the bearing started.

using a socket from your tool box is easiest non damaging way to insert bearings into grips.

Check out the video (http://video.helifreak.com/?subpath=mercuriell&filename=L6003DMaingrip.wmv)!!! Mine are the same and I chose to only use one spacer washer when mounting the blades. I also found that there was some end play on the grips when assembled and the plastic spacer between the grip and the dampers seemed too thin - cured by using a couple of T600 brass spacers.

Thanks guys. John, I don't think it's a good idea to use one shim as the blades won't be in the middle of the grip & pivot centrally.

Yeah, nice one Kev, been flying these logo's now for years with one shim and after reading this i went over my 14 and 600 and managed to squeeze in the second one. It wasnt easy but not real hard and i must admit the blades feel much better in the grips. I just never thought you pry them grips open to do it! When's your maiden?

I don't think it affects the position of the blades relative to the feathering shaft at all - just affects how much the grips are pryed open and again 1mm not going to make any difference IMHO - flexing of the grips and blades gonna make FAR more difference - she flies great anyway .
WRT to the bearings slide them into the groove on the main grips at right angles to their final position and then once they're in use the feathering shaft to spin them round at right angles then pull them down intop place http://video.helifreak.com/?subpath=mercuriell&filename=grip.wmv

Yup, how else you gonna torque down the blade bolts for those blade stop autos? ;)
Hope to maiden mine before the end of the year.

FYI... I run two of the feathering shaft shims between the back bearing and the dampers as per Danny J recommendation. Keeping the Vbar head as tight as possible is the key to having it track perfectly. Little off topic, but since we were talking, lol.

I'm running the stock setup out of the box. Zero issues with tracking, of course I'm not hammering on it like you madd 3dz pilots.
