Hey Marcus looking forward to meeting up with you some time soon. Nice flying by the way. Ya the new tail box looks sweet, I am hoping I can slip one away from Tim at Toledo this weekend.

Chris,
You won't be able to slip one away from Tim. Jason and Todd have the only two in existence right now.
Anyway will the new MA gear box fit on your Freya

Have fun at Toledo, I miss being there.

HAHAHA David sorry I forgot to tell you I moved back to M.A as well as most other have. So this year I will be sporting two Fury Extremes. I will be needing at least one of them sweet ass tail boxes hehehe.

Hey david did you see the heads Top Dragon is making for the tempest? They look ok but I will be staying away from them. I have seen way to many of there raptor heads turn out bad!

Personnaly i don't like the idea of having hte gears out in the open like that, would much rather have them enclosed or even partually enclosed.

Yes I looked at Top Dragon's website and there head.
It looks Ok, but from what I saw by the time you get all the parts to make it the same as the Tempest head. The TD head cost as much or more than the MA head.

Top Dragon Head block and blade grips $199
Flybar assembly $269

MA Tempest head $400

At least the above prices is what I understand from Top Dragon website

Chris glad your back flying MA helis again. When we meet you can tell me why you decided to come back to MA again. Hope you had fun in Toledo.

Well guys I spent some time at the M.A booth talking with Tim. I tried to get a new tail box out of him but no way he would budge hehehe. But he said we should see them near the end of May and the street price will be in the $150.00 mark.

After really taking a good look at it the tail box is going to be a sweet add on and should find its way into kits some time in the future. The tail gears look huge and beefy so they should hold up very well to alot of crap. We have more pic's of the box and will post them soon as we can.

Welcome back to MA Chris ! ( Sluggo )
I like to have the new tail gear box ASAP also. This site have the spell check for me. 8)
Am i the only person that have the tail control threaded rod snapping in haft right at the join with the carbon rod ? I changed them to 3mm flybar end cut out solid and long enough thread for the link.

Chris,
Anything is possible. But I have not seen the threaded rod snap except when it has met the earth really hard. Your not putting a bend in the rod are you?
If your snapping the threaded rod, I would be looking for some high frequency vibrations.

Hey thanks Chris! As for your rods snapping I would think you have a high vib going on as David said. I would check to make sure all your tail parts are straight and well balanced. Also make sure to check your input shaft if you have crashed the heli before. I have seen them bend a little in a crash and will cause high frequency vib. Are they breaking on the front or the back of the rod?

I needed a threaded end one time for a spare tail push rod. I couldn't find the right rod so I used a 70mm robbe frame bolt and cut the head off. I knurled the end of it before jb welding it in. These bolts are very hard and have a nice long shank with very little thread on them so it worked perfect.

It must be a notch in my tail shaft, It broke in the front rod. Or could be the dual bearing on the torque tube. Thanks again

I agree, Chris. Unless that 3mm rod was pre-fatigued from bending, and I know you didn't do that, there must have been a pretty wicked high frequency vibration to cause it to break. The p/r support isn't positioned in a "perfect" position to allow the rod to buzz in flight, is it?

BTW, if you are going to have your FF again this year, please try to set dats ASAP so we all can arrange time off; I have to work some weekends.

I have the sanction for the event date is OCt 2-3 . I will try to stay the same weekend every year . Looking forward to having you again .
I didn't bend the rod, but did notice some tail vibration in normal mode with lower Rpm, ID up is smooth, also it could be from a bad set of tail blade
