What channel(on the reciever) do you guys use for the gyro and what switch do you use to switch modes.
Im not all to sure about mine.
Currently I have the hold /rudder ddr controlling the gyro hh/rate mode
than I have the throttle cut on the gear switch
And when im starting the heli (its nitro) I use the aux 2 switch to keep the idle steady

One thing I noticed is that I cant cut the throttle when the collective is above half.
Is this normal?

Why in the world would you set up a radio like that?

Put the gyro on the Gear switch and be done with it.

I have it similar to what you describe EatMorePizza. I liked having the throttle controls all on the left hand, so used Gear for the throttle cut/hold, and put the gyro on the Rudder D/R. Of course, later, I ended up just setting both possible values to the same, as I couldn't see a reason to want the gyro in rate mode...

Then even later, I set it up per flight mode to all the same value.

For some reason I couldnt get the throttle cut to work where it was so i had to switch the gear to aux2.

WHat about the throttle cut? How come when I hit the switch engine only shuts off when the collective stick is below half? Is that the normal setup?

To my knowledge there is no throttle cut only throttle hold and this has nothing to do with either the gear channel or the aux channel.

Terry is correct there is no CUT on a DX7 only a hold. You should NOT set up your hold to be a cut as hold is a safety feature and also allows practicing autos.

Hold is safety for starting and walking your heli while it's idling out to the flight line. I have seen too many people BUMP the throttle stick while walking the heli out and thus MAD 3Dz chicken dance ;) or burning up a clutch!!!

So set up your hold AS a hold with engine at idle. Now if you want a cut switch I figured out how to make one using a programable mix. Of note though is you must be out of hold and idle up for the cut switch to work.....

Hey Bob, That is how I set mine up, and it ws driving me mad that the throttle cut wouldn't work above half stick. So basicly the gear switch still controls the gyro hh/rate mode as long as the stick is above the half point.
Btw what is the rudder ddr switch used for?
