In the Log 500/600 manual it calls for "oil" on the rotor shaft and "grease" to rotor head bearings and on page 15 to rotor shaft.
I'd appreciate some help on what oil and/or grease to use please

I have some Unocal 76 synthetic bearing grease that I use, and "Triflow" lube for the oil. Most machine oils will do the job here.

I don't think its critical - I think a PTFE containing oil or grease makes sense and TriFlow does the job very nicely - I find a 'greaseless' silicone spray good for the tail slider and ball linkages. Also important to clean the sliders - swash and tail when the lubricant becomes black as it has picked up dirt and started turning ntop a grinding paste - I find an electrical contact cleaner spray makes short work of the clean up ready for fresh lube.

I hope you don't mind me twisting this thread a little bit.......
How often should you lube your heli, and what parts should be lubed. So far I have about 20 flights, and I have used tri-flow oil once on the obvious moving parts - swash, blade grips, tail slider etc. I put silicone spray on the tail belt and main gear/ pinion.
So does anybody have some advice on how often the heli should be lubed, and any comments on what to lube?
And btw, ozsteel, for grease there is a tri-flow grease which readyheli sells, or there is a miniature aircraft hydrogen grease like this, http://www.greathobbies.com/productinfo/?prod_id=MIN4707 . You should be able to get one of these from one of the shops in OZ, Modelflight or Perth RC or that heli shop in Gladesville.
Thanks,
Ant

I haven't been flying as often as before, now its on the weekends and maybe a few flights during the week if I have time. My usual routine when I get to the field is after the preflight, I clean the mainshaft, swash and TR shaft and apply triflow. So for me this is every day before I fly. It may be a bit excessive, but thats how I roll. ;)
I would say use your best judgement, if there is dirt on the mainshaft and TR like John points out, clean it up before applying oil. That dirt will act as sandpaper once mixed with oil.

Thanks ticidytoc,
Sounds like I had better do a bit more oiling!
