View Full Version : Futaba 9257 on tail
I apologize if this has been covered, but my search was inconclusive, and maybe for good reason.
Is the 9257 heavy enough for the tail? I have one, and I'd like to use it. But, the torque is much less than a 9650. I plan to do alot of backwards circuits and such.
Should I buy a new 9650 or use the 9257?
Thanks,
Ron

S9254 for the tail.
S9254 for the tail.
I second Terry's opinion. The Hurricane is a big helicopter for the 9257 or 9650. You can use them, but you are pushing a little. I use 9650 on my little T-Rex 450.

Yeah, that's kinda how I was leaning too, but I was curious what everyone is doing. I've not been that impressed with 9650's on the tail of T-Rex 450's anyways.

that's no surprise, the 9650 only has a transit speed of 0.14/0.11 seconds where as the 9254 is 0.06 seconds, almost twice as fast on 4.8V as the 9650 on 6V ;)

Which is exactly where the 9257 shines...in speed! :):)
But, doubt if it's up to the task.

The S9257 should work fine. I'm using the S9253 which shares the same specifications as the S9257 except that it is a standard size rudder servo.
