Hey guys,

Our house is due for demolition in 2009 (something I'm NOT happy about :() as my parents want to move to somewhere smaller, and use the money gained from selling the land to help my brother and I fund our first properties when we 'fly the nest' as it were :) Today they started chopping the bushes and trees down behind our house ....

So, out with the mast! :D

I put it up just behind our house, and when extended it gave me a clear view of what they were up to .... *heehee* :D

These were from about 40ft up ... I think ... maybe a little more:

("Sorry mate? Nah can't hear you!!" :D)

(guy at top left ... "I wonder if I can scare them with my funny walk!" :p)
Notice the treehouse that we built in the tree on the right ... that's going back many many many years :)

Whilst there I also took the all-important self-portrait:

and also a shot of our chimney! Well why not eh ;) During the summer birds keep falling down the chimney, so at some point we want to lower a little grid of metal over the top, possibly using the helicopter, and the mast would be a perfect way to check to see if it's been put in place correctly!

I might take the heli out later in the week to get a vertically-down photo of them ... it rained for the rest of today ... and it's still raining now!

Bet they've never visited a house where they've been spied on before! :p

Anyway, thought I'd share :)

Here's a panoramic shot of today's progress ...

That orangey/brown fence you can see is the OTHER side of the path ... ie. you can now see the path clearly ...

Apparently a LOT more will be going in the coming days ... :(

Some ground photos (http://www.pbase.com/hogster/land_clearing_nov_2007).

I found this plan-view I took last Christmas which gives a better view of the lie of the land ... you can probably make out 'Happy New Year' on the front lawn :D

Well, at least you didn't immortalize any of them picking their nose or taking a whiz behind a tree! I was going to take some aerial shots of workmen unloading plywood onto a roof from a lift truck, when I suddenly realized there was a possibility of distracting them and having someone lose their balance and fall. Also more than once I've been shooting a real estate picture, just to have a truck stop directly in front of the house and stare up at the heli. I usually try to holler at them to move, but they usually just yell back something like "Awesome, Dude!", so I have to land and then ask them to move. I guess if it was that easy it would take all the sport out of it, wouldn't it?

he has a very nice setup with lots of custom/DIY componets.
most AP stuff is DIY anyway.

Actually, there is a ready to go mast on ebay too.

Wow, those masts are expensive. The same guy I'm buying the 2 gassers from offered to give me a 61-footer that mounts on the trailer hitch and works off 12V electric/hydraulics. Guess I should have taken him up on it!

I took some good AP photos today as the weather was very nice :)

http://hogster.rchomepage.com/aerial_photos/mid_land_development_21-11-07.jpg

Amazing the difference a little sunlight can make to a photo (the previous AP shots were taken on a very murky February morning).

Oh, and the main worker said he's always been after an aerial photo of his house as he's recently thatched it .... *cha-ching* :D :D

David :)

PS. A LOT more trees will be coming down in the coming days, so I hope to do some more AP work later :)

Was this shot taken with the mast or chopper?

Unles David has a new 100+ foot mast, I'd say it was from the chopper!

Helicopter :)

Would say that was about 200ft up :)

Well the redevelopment has finished, and I just took this vertical shot today (stitched from 3 photos):

You can really see how much has gone by how much brown there is now! :(

Ah well ....

Oh, and here's (http://helifreak.com/showthread.php?t=52059) the upshot of that worker who asked for an AP photo of his house
