Everything was going great with my stock Hurri. I have had a dozen flights with the std setup without any problens.
STD setup; DX7, (3) DS821, 401/9650, wood blades, 2100 6s Gaui stock eng & 50 ESC, 14T pinion.
Then I upgraded to;
500 CF Blades
Z20 980
Align 75 ESC
Medusa BEC
Gaui metal main grips
Align 600 tail assm
Gaui lite paddles
16T pinion (std main gears)
EVO 2500 6s
I haven't tacted the Hurri don't know the RPMs
After this all was added I can't get my tail to settle in. I have a DX 7 w/401 and F9650 that was all working fine with the std setup. Now I can't get the tail wag to stop. No I haven't had any crashes, no damage to the Heli at all. I have had a lot of shuttering when winding up then I tightened the blade grips and it went away. I have balanced the blades.
Is the problem with the Pinion and main gear? I have a new 68t main gear. I have tried the gyro in HH and in rate and I can't stop the tail wag. I have two Trex SE's that give me no problems with the gyro of any tail wag!! What am I missing here.

Something binds in the tail assembly? I would remove the control rod from the servo side and gently slide it back and forth to check for binding.

16 tooth pinion is spinning the tail hard and might be locking up a bit under load. I fly my Z20 with a 14 tooth and the tail is perfect. The 14 tooth with the Z20 flies most 3d manuvers and gives me a safe 9 minutes
Where did you purchase said 14 tooth pinion?

What batteries are you using? I just installed the RevCo white #1 front gear that replaces the 41T with the 68T gear. I then put a 23T pinion Ready-Heli suggested. I'll see what it does. I also will turn my dely on the 401 to 50% as someone suggested . Ill let you know what happens. I now have to do my test runups in my garage as it started snowing here today,

Dan, I did have some binding in the tail in two places so even if that isn't it I'm sure it will help.

I'm using Hyperion 3700mah packs.

Once I upped the head speed on my Hurri I could keep the tail behaving either. I had to go to the Raptor tail hub and grips to solve it per my vids. The gaui tail doesn't like the higher head speeds and sticks. I believe it is the aluminum hub design as I talk about there.

Bob,
I put the align 600 tail grip assembly on but still have a wag. I went over the entire tail systen again and I will test it out again and if not then I will have to add the whole tail case.

Ok I did my test after going over my gyro and tail again. I still have wag. With the Revco 68T front gear and a 23T pinion Z 20 -980 KV, Align 75A, Evo 2500- 6s. I don't have a tach but acording to the Ready-Heli head speed calulator I should be at 2200 to 2400. My tests were inside the basement (it's 22 outside) in only normal not idol 1 so I was probably only around 2000. So are the other guys who are using the Z30 and up using the Raptor tail?

You dont have gov mode on in the Align ESC do you? That can cause a pulsing and low head speed.
Setting #4 should be 2 beeps (heli with soft start NO gov).

Bob
Yes I do have gov active and I'll change it. So your telling me you don't use gov?

Yea dont... on this speed control it can give very odd results. The Align gov mode is not that great especially if your trying to get higher head speeds. When it tries to govern it can actually pulse the power and give you what you might think is a wag.

Bob, That did it! I have been blaming the tail and the gyro all this time. One thing I learned also, when testing (in the garage) the change to no gov I first used my TP 2100 6s and it waged after about 30 seconds of flight. When I switched to my EVO 2500 6s it all went perfect!
I tested in normal and Idol 1. The only thing left is to go outside and try but it is still cold out. Look Bob youv'e got earthquakes and fires wev'e got tornados and cold.

Hi All,
Can someone please help with my problem? I'm currently running Z30-1100 kV + 61T + 16T pinion + TRex 600 tail grips + 50A ESC. I can't seem to solve the tail wag problem. Any suggestions?
Bob, does this has anything to do with the stock 50A ESC governor mode? Whenever, I reach approx 85% on the throttle curve the heli will start to wag. I've tried to lower the gyro gain, increasing my servo horn distance from the servo from 14mm to 18mm all without help.
BTW, I have a 75A ESC on hand but wish to solve this problem before upgrading if possible.
Regards,
Kelvin
