I will but not now...

Currently I feel my heli pretty fast with the s9451's and I'm happy with that setting now.

Yes airboss, The leads were soldered straight to the pins. That on/off witch is the JR heavy duty switch. Sure it looks pretty muscle with the big wires.

yeah it does looky beefy, I'm using the duralite 6v with the failsafe /on switch. if any of the E parts ( switch, Reg) fail it stays in the ON position.

Hi, I’m new to heli flying, but I’ve toyed with rc cars and lived in oc almost my whole life. I’m probably going to the get the trex 450 sev2 + the popular electronics b/c I need all the help I can get. Just started looking at the finless videos.

So what happens during the oc heli meets?

welcome Zaskarkid, what city are you in?
Finless vids are very helpful.
do you have a sim, and what type?
Lowflyer is right about the larger helis. 450 set up mellow will be good 1st heli.
have experienced person check out our heli before flight.
building them is 1/2 the fun.
we are here to help you.

You guys are right, I was told that bigger is more stable. So what servos and battery to look for? I'm in Fountain Valley.

Servos and lipos that depend on size of heli. Trex 450 you will needs hitec hs65 mg $35 / piece, 3s2200 lipo $60-90 .
Trex 500 hitec hs 225 mg $28/ piece work great. Align 6s 2100 -2500 lipo $90 -125.

Gy401 with 9257 or 9650 servos work fine on both 450 and 500

Hung,

Do you have a simulator? That's literally a must for any pilot. I've learned everything on my simulator Real flight G3.5

A bigger heli will make you learn faster however, it costs much.

JR8717 ready!

I wouldnt trust that standard RX switch to a high power system!
Heck I have seen those fail on a 4.8 nicad system before.

It is a heavy duty one from JR. Don't know if its really "heavy duty" as it says on the box but It has been working fine for 8 gallons. Anyway thank for the heads up.

The only upside to my Raptor exploding is that it will have all the upgrades and more.

Complete metal head, push pull for elevator and pitch, gear ratio change to 8.27 from 7.92, it took a little while to spool up with that gearing and I always went easy on it, 3D clutch and clutch bell, 3D clutch liner, it had the stock 60 clutch, composite canopy, carbon tail boom. I'm sure there's more.............. :) Need to get some 30 minute epoxy to glue the clutch liner in.
I got the tunning sorted on the 91 Cspec and it was making great power.

I might have a couple of 450s to fly this weekend, at least one for sure. Not sure where I'm going to fly? Whittier, Arbor, Irvine? When my Raptor is flying Irvine is my first choice, I've only been to Arbor once and Whittier is usually crowded. :smokin:

Got kicked out of Harvard Park in Irvine today for flying.

I've had cops there watching me before... Been flying there for months...

Well, evidently baseball league season is starting soon, because there were some park wienies out there futzin with baseball bases. not the normal maintenance dudes I've been talking to for the past 4 months.

"Collin" the head park wienie, came over and said I couldn't fly model craft there. He said he didn't want to have to say anything to me, but his boss was there, and he would get in trouble if he didnt' kick me out. I said that was cool, and understood that shit rolls downhill.

I then asked him what time he and his boss were NOT there. He said 7 AM to 2 Pm would be the "best time to try to come fly".

I was flyin the Logo, so I can understand his fear, but there was NO ONE on any of the four soccer fields.

Bah. Not happy... Guess I'll have to take the 15 min to drive to the regular Irvine field from now on during lunch.

Park Wienie Collin said there was a sign about no planes posted. I went and looked and found nothing at one entrance, then drive to the other and found a little 8 x 11 sign that said no Model Airplanes. Irvine Muni Code 3 - 4 101 127. Sure enough. Looked it up and says no model airplanes in Irvine city parks.

So, I've gotta go before 2 from now on, and see if I get kicked out again. We'll see.

I thought about going down the "it's not an airplane, it's a helicopter" arguement, but figured that wasn't worth my time.

BAH!

Colin the park wienie is a pawn, if it really was an issue with you flying dont you think the head park wienie would have said something? and your right about helis not being airplanes. sounds like a familliar issue. so hows the 500 flying?
no wienies allowed.
