Still some left to do but the Carb Smart is installed, just need to glue in the sensor and put power to the unit. I've got Arctic silver adhesive for that.

Using an HS55, the location was a bit of a puzzle, it will be interesting to see where others mount it. I just used some hard plywood and glued it in, got a little on the servo on accident but that will just hold it in better.

The Raptor has a lot of new and upgraded parts and should work flawlessly, it's getting all push pull installed where needed on the servos.

Mitch, most are just mounting the servo with silicon adhesive , yours is looking good. did you see the guy using both arms of the servo to adjust both needles.

Bigger Dano, isnt that a sweet heli? talk about craftsmanship and machine work.if it was summer I'd own it, only a few months till HEAT WAVE $$$$.

You got that right!!
What's the heat got to do with your job?

Long, I'd love to buy your N9, but I TRULY can't justify a second 90.

And Asian Jay got a 90? What kind did he get?

A HIROBO , build from all metal and carbon, air frame alone run near 2 grand. Darn, Japon heli after market never cheap

He got that from a Doctor he helped set stuff up for. He showed up one day with it. I was there at Ultimate the day he got it. He was so jazzed :D

The SX doesn't have the other needle adjustment...that's an SZ thing.

Know any doctor need help set up their heli??? I am avaible 25/8 :) .

I think everyone of us helifreak should get a 500 or familar size and a GPS, my car got a facoty installed, and map show up every parks near by when I driving around... I found lot of space usually empty to fly my 500 at work.

Just the past 2-3 weeks I think my skill got big pump with the 500 cause I am flying it almost everyday.

I like my 600 better , but that not the thing I take everywhere with me. Right now, I got my trex 500 permanent seat in back row of my car.

A good buddy of mine put on an airshow at OCMA, sorry you guys couldn't make it out; we were the only heli drivers there! Nice day, the winds picked up now and then but not too bad. Great place, glad we signed up!

The VP stated that within the next few months a $20K covering is going up to give some shade. Ron told me that most folks have brought canopies in the past. Heading out! Nitro 600P and HDX450!

IT's gonna be a HOT MOFAKA out at OCMA during the summer.

20 bucks says that 20k covering is going to be on the main runway, not out at Heli Hooligan Hill.

I'm already eyeballing portable canopies.

Holy cr@p! This thread moves faaast!

First, thank you all for all the welcomes and kind words!

Long,
Cool, thanks for the OCMA link, I'll check it out. Haven't carried an AMA card for a long time.

Airboss,
Thanks for the great info. And good to hear Finnless is out here... now if he could bless my helis with some of his holy water.... Hehehe! Well, only flying electric mini-heli's, so not as critical to get to a real airfield like OCMA.
Still got some questions:

1. You mentioned Irvine, which I think another member here says is shutdown. Would that be that one land development place off the freeway, where security is chasing people off?

2. What/where is AP? Sorry I'm kinda new to OC. I've noticed out where I live, there are a bunch of soccer fields and parks. For example, the big park on Jamboree east of the marketplace (but before the Tustin Ranch GC); and there are a bunch of soccer fields on Culver between Portola and Irvine Blvd.

Oh nice, Gyro Hobbies in Lake Forest eh? I've only been going to Ultimate, since I'm an ex-car guy. I'll have to check it out, sounds much more 'specialized'.

Halo3,
Thanks! BTW, there's a Halo Tournament being put on at Chapman University I hear.

Just read the post on the GPS thing. Gotta check my Garmin tomorrow!

Looked over the OCMA site. Close to my house but joining seems complicated - member of one of the delegate clubs, then member of the flying site, AMA membership/insurance (obviously), and limited spots.

Here's a random question... I live in the neighborhood south of Jamboree off Champion. There's someone a block or two away from me who flies (or at least used to) BL heli's over the houses in the area. I'm not condoning that inexperienced pilots do so, but I used to go out and watch when I heard it, it was f'n cool. If you're that guy, PM me, could definitely use a heli-friendly neighbor... I'll bring beers! :YeaBaby:

OCMA isn't really that complicated. To join the OCMA you'll have to be in an AMA chartered club (find one here http://www.modelaircraft.org/clubsearch.aspx). I chose to sign up with OCRM (OC Rotor Modelers) which free to anyone with an AMA card. Contact John Lasater for information, we did it with one email.

Second, contact Ron Novak, Secretary of OCMA, at rnovaksr@ix.netcom.com and ask for an application to OCMA. You can fill out the .pdf or .doc file online and email it back to him and include a .jpg portrait photo in the attachment (it's for your badge, I had to crop a photo, he'll do the sizing).

Finally, meet Ron at OCMA with $150.00 ($50 is one time, $100 are anual dues) on one of several days per week and you are off flying. The entire group out there is extraordinary. People are always willing to help out and general conversation is great. I used to raid certain city parks with my 450 up until a month ago (was never thrown out) but after awhile it got boring as no one else was there. I like OCMA as there are other hooligans that have odd days off like myself. Good luck!

TWEAK, irvine is at sand canyon and the 5 frwy behind the la quinta hotel.
AP (arbor park) is on lampson between valleyview and seal beach blvd.
OCMA can be joined by printing a copy of the membership app and then faxing it to Ron Novak ,at the OCMA feild you will never have to look over your shoulder to see where those kids are that you hear while flying in a park. and some of fly there during the week but mostly sat and sun from 9-1.
welcome and keep the questions comming.

So is the Irvine Field off limits due to the overprotective security guard? It sounds like he just dosn't like all the cars in the parking lot, what if you parked around the corner and walked over and set up shop?

Hey Tweek I just PMed ya, I'm in your area and fly all those area's around Jamboree and Culver.:) I might have been the guy you saw flying around but sounds like you are a little up the street from me.

the way the PD explained it to us, dont stand on the dirt lot, dont park on the dirt lot or in the parking lot of the commercial buildings, dont look or wave to security tard, so go fly and stand in the street and you got it made.lol PD wont enforce the No Tresspass unless security presses charges. so be nice to the tard.

Looks like I just bought Mitch's CopterX 200. I didn't mean to do that :P Anyone wanna buy a CopterX? That'll teach me to bump people's auctions. Dork!

Just put the Scorpion -8 and the new TP Extreme 2200 pack through their first flight in the Mini Titan...

Hoooooolllllyyyyy crappppp... That Scorpion is a beast. I spooled it up for a hover in the living room and got scared and had to take it outside. I also installed the Mini Titan SE green paddles. Man, that thing's flying like a dream. I can't wait to get it out to some open sky and let her rip.

I think I need to reduce collective on it now. I'm starting to really understand just how bad too much collective can be. Airboss was talking me through some loops last weekend, and his input was really forcing me to be mindful, and I started getting some nice big big large loops on the beauty that is my Logo.

Discovered also last weekend that windy days make for EFFICIENT flying! I put far fewer mahs back into my packs than I thought I would. The incoming wind from the southeast was like a giant air half pipe. It was awesome.

Charging the TPX now, we'll see how badly this scorpion beats on my packs. They're all good packs, but this thing's gonna work em all, so we'll see how FP, TP, and DN Power (Gen 2, they're good, don't yell) hold up. This'll be fun :D

CANNOT WAIT FOR THIS WEEKEND, HOLY CRAP I NEED TO FLY IN SOME OPEN SKY!

HOOLIGANS!
