Happy Easter, we had a good time out at OCMA today. nice pics jason and long thank you. I dont know about those push on canopy mounts for the 700 would really like to see thumscrews. looks like a cross between the vibe and N9. how thick are those frame halfs?and that is one long CF boom.
Definitely a great day at Black Starr. I'm burnt to a crisp. I need to apply the sunscreen.
Jim, you have a shade canopy? Where'd you get it? We need to start rockin the shade action, the sun will eat me alive. Unlike Airbung my neck isn't supposed to be red... /glare.
Pics of the 700 look great, Long. Looks like a nice bird.
I'm a tired camper today.

Mike, you need to make a small sign and stick it on you steering wheel when you first get setup. The sign will say "Hey Duffus, pick up your start before taking off!" :YeaBaby: I missed you by 10 min. today.
Got 2.5 flights before all the morning crew split. Saved my heli today from a run away tail, the whole tail control rod flew off in fight while doing a stall piro sideways. saw a silver piece fly off to the right and tail started spinning the other direction. Was able to hit hold and slow it down and landed right side up with only one broken landing skid. Man, that ground was hard.

No sp0rt active @ AP. Was there all day :) . 8 th packs on the morning, told my friends , I will doing low funnel till tail blade inch off grass, first 3 orbit is nice, 4 th tails blade chop ground. I was able to hit hold and bring heli level up but can not save a darn thing. Brand new canopy and main balde is gone.
Repair heli and came back on afternoon, but got motor cut off trouble. Need upgrade motor and esc. Like the scorpion on Mike and Kevin, but they out stock everywhere :(.
I think I found nice way to mod the 5245 top case, 4 crash and case live on :) . The 5245 midle case got deeper shaft hole , I cut off these poles, drill 3 mm on top case where poles break, install the case back ,install & press the mod shaft hole from outside, glue them . And fly lol , I was only doing this because 5245 case short stock, it turn out work great.
I was thinking of going 9650 with 9 9257 gear mod all around, but saw Mike strip his 9650 and crash today, guess I will stay with 5245, or mod to fullsize servos like Kevin, when lframe avaible

Maybe you are thinking of me?
I changed to the 9650's after the case problem on the Hitec's. The first crash I had to rebuild all 3 9650's the second crash I had to rebuild 2 of them. So I am going back to the 5245's because I might survive a crash or two before I have to replace a case. For now I am going to work on modifying the case to last longer. I guess I just crash too much for some buttery soft nylon geared servos. But they were nice till I crashed, hahaha
BTW I love this scorpion motor it rocks!!!

My scorpion went out last week, one bad bearing and worn out shaft, tried to rebuild it but getting a vibe so it must be out of balance, getting it replaced at half the cost but I have to wait until they get more in stock by the end of the month, I missed my scorpionized 500.

Oh no, more bad bearings! I thought my NEU motors were the only one's with bearing problems. My neu motor took about 6 weeks to be replaced.
Ahhh Haaa .... heres where the OC'ites have been hiding... So you found my oasis @ OCMA !! Welcome. !! finally I wont be the only one out there flying helis. A lot of times in the afternoon after most have left, some of the guys are embracing of the helis using the main runway. It's a good field, but yes its a bit hard on a crash. Nothing like grass to fly on, but the grass is drying up as far as sites go. I brought JK out there about 4 months ago, and he dug that field. Its a nice wide open area... Way better than some of the other non-heli friendly clubs. I only fly nitros so this is it for me. I aint smart enough to figure out electrons, so IC is where I stay.
By the way.... anyone into night flying.... this site is killer for it !! SCARY DARK AT NIGHT !!

Toro, I do like the ocma flying site but dont they close the gate at sundown? that would be a scary nite out there, the city folk will be crying for their mommies.what days do you fly and at what time? it would be nice to bump in to a local there, so far its just been us heli hooligans from irvine and arbor.
Im out there on Weekends *whatever day I dont work* (F.D.) and sometimes during the week. Usually WED-FRI. Again on days I dont work. I havent thought about the main gate at the entrance, But I have the code for the club gate.... Come to think of it, I have a key (possibly) for the main gate too. I'll have to inquire about the gate at the main entrance.
Ill probably be out there this saturday 8ish-1... Finishing setup on a 600NN,. double N for NITRO & NIGHT !

I'm reading the general field rules as I'm typing.
Flying hours: Monday through Sunday. Sun-up to Sun-down
Night Flying is not permitted.
They must have changed it... I havent read those in a while, but I was putting my pin on the board (still have to even though 2.4) I noticed it had some night flying rules on the freq. board. If you read on the rules also it says that helis if hovering need to use the heli area and FFF use the main runway.... Apparantly they changed that too.... Tail standing piro takeoffs arent good there, and draws the attention of the field marshalls quite quickly... IE GIT BACK OVER WHERE YOU BELONG...
PS... NICE flatty in your avitar....backside catalina ?? R Seabass still here ?

Thanks, it's Dana Point, and the Seabass still hiding at the backside of Catalina some where, I will start my Seabass hunt in about couple of weeks hopping to geta keeper this year.
PS... I will look into rules, and possibly look at seeing if a change can be made.... I would love to fly out there at night.

I know Bob White and he is a good freind , but he has always had plenty of GAS. jk. dont stand down wind!
Yea... thats from my plank days long ago when I used to fly big wood.... 40% etc... I gave him some good go juice for his DA 50 when he was flying planks at Pomona Valley Model AIRPLANE Club... Notice the word AIRPLANE.... They dont like heli's. Ask Bob about his experiences there.

whats up with those "AIRPLANE" guys? do they think their special? dam I fly planes and helis, 30+ yrs of planes and now almost 2 years of helis. I still like doing both but the helis are much more complicated and take a great deal of skill to fly. I can 3D planes with the best and last week had an opportunity to fly one, needless to say I put on a pretty good airshow at ocma doing knife edge orbits around the field and a couple of short hovers and torq rolls. then my left hand started to fall asleep, not enough to do, so I gave the guy back his plane and went heli flying. anytime those plane guys think they got it all just remind them some of us do fly planes and really know the differance. hey Toro did you ever fly at Point Fermin of LB bluffs with finless? we used to do combat there back in 80s.
