Hehe, I was using the Canon EOS 40D with the Canon EF-S 17-55mm f/2.8 IS USM Lens. This combo is equal to one RTF Synergy.
I'm just kidding. That was the "crappy" Canon G7. I don't have cash to buy a heli how come I've got an SLR...:YeaBaby:. But If I had enough money, I would buy that combo just for shooting helicopter pictures.

I was going to tell you to bring the sun block, you look a little toasty :YeaBaby:
I do absolulely freakin love this heli. It flies like it's on rails, the cyclic is nice and smooth and snappy, and it's got sooooo much freakin power. Full power climbouts just go go go. It's incredible. I did some tictocs and they were spot on. I was reaaaaally nervous flying around, but I'll get over the pucker factor. After a couple of tanks, I was looping it, and did a couple of rolls. Long flew it just like he used to fly it, smooth as silk 3d all over, in a space right in front of us, very nice. I just couldn't bring myself to push it (myself) too hard. Nervous as hell, but so much fun.
I do fly before 11, I swear. With the heat increasing, expect me out there earlier and earlier.
I can't thank Long enough for all the help setting it up. He pretty much rebuilt the bird himself and set it all up for me. It would've taken me a lot longer without someone to interrogate and a brain to pick over for tidbits. I really enjoyed hanging out with Long too, he's a cool cat. Great pics too, bro.
Mike, I did mean to bring sunscreen, but I didn't get a chance to stop by the store for some. I cooked up pretty good, even if I hid under my car's tailgate all day. Such a white boy.

we did put the new mat where the old used to be. and JL did not want us to move the location. however a couple of planks did fly over just as I was talking to him about their doing just that. I also asked him for a wind sock at the NE corner of our field.next week we will seal the seams on the mat with some 1010 duct seal.

Arbor was nice today. Not a lot of wind, very warm, but not ridiculously hot. Got a chance to try out my new AirThunder's today before heading back, as I promised my wife I'd be back by afternoon. The redwolf USCG is still flying well. The little bit of tail wag it had is now gone after shimming out some end play in the tail shaft.

not sure you want to use duct seal on that surface... Petromat has a specific product to seal the edges.. more like liquid asphalt than anything. When duct seal gets hot it it gets runny like gum.. You guys should also know that the petromat is only a temporary product used as a test for the Irvine company. The intent was to use the facility in a temp manner until the one year honneymoon is over and then put down a more permant surface IE concrete or asphalt.. Lassater has the necessary pull to get things done so if you guys need or feel its a (safety) issue he can get you guys moved.. I would say your biggest hurdle to pulling you guys back torwards the rear entry road is the left side fly over. AMA states you cant not fly over people or structures and with the cars coming in to and the greater possibility of a fly over they may shoot you guys down.. Be patient and a good neighbor.. Good Luck
You may want to ask what happend to the lump sum of money donated to the club by GYRO for shade went and if you guys will be seeing a small portion of that money.. AT one time I had drawings and an approval for builiding shade at that facility but lost it after the change in organization heads..

we use the duct seal on every rooftop installation and it is not soft or gooey. it dries within minutes and stays flexible, plus its free.

Toro, maybe you could get one of your trucks out to the pad and water the edges for us. we trenched and burried 3 sides and now they just need a bit of water and compacting.

If you can make it happen, do it.
keep in mind, I'm just a bystander here.
The more support the better.
Deffinately don't move the heli pad!

I NO longer have the ear of that club. Or after I laid out and installed there new runway they were done with me.. I have moved on and am working with the Norco club to put in two permant 10X10 concrete pads. The first couple phone calls have been very postive the BOD is open to spending the money for the pads.. I hope to have the pads in and the new parking lot butter smooth by the end of the summer.. Once thats done and running smooth I'll start working on the Helo only facility in Chino again.. Two years and nothing but frustration..

Why is it when you order parts after a massive crash your order comes complete less oh lets say the rear frames, main blade grips and fan shroud? Hell man keep the rest until the important parts come in... AAHHHHHHHH..

Someone named Murphy authored the book on RC helis ??? perhaps.... I'm just guessin, but that murphy guy is a real prick
