will this radio work? it says 6 channels and ccpm mixing? My first heli and radio. any info would help.

Yes it will work.
I would suggest, if you can afford it, to get the DX7 or wait a bit for the DX6i. Both are full range, work with the newer DSM2 receivers and have a LOT better programming choices.
A DX6 will work, but you will want more later, a DX7 will hang with you much longer.
