Have to change the liner on my clutch. I have heard that you need to turn the new liner down on a lathe. Is this true, I don't have access to that type of equipment so what is the proper proceedure for installing a new liner? :arggg:
Thanks.

The liner has to be cut down to allow clearance for the clutch once it is installed.
The inner diameter of the liner needs to be 0.010 to 0.012 larger than the outer diameter of the clutch.
Doing it on a lathe is the preferred method. I have also seen the clutch bell chucked up in a drill and heavy grit sandpaper used to size it correctly. This method requires a little longer and more care.

Now I have a new question. What is the proper method for removing the bearing block from the clutch bell and then removing the clutch bell from the gear? :badair:
Thanks

You can just screw the clutch bell off the pinion. There is no need to remove the pinion from the bearing block to change the liner in the bell.
Take a small torch or heat gun. Heat the clutch bell where the pinion screws into it. Hold the pinion with some pliers, then just screw the clutch bell off the pinion. It loosens in a counter clockwise ( left) rotation. It should screw right off.
