Hobby Lobby is selling this heli at 1/2 price. Anyone have one? Looks like a good price.

I have not experienced one personally. From what I understand it performs well, you just have to get past it's appearance. If you like how it looks, I don't think it is a bad helicopter.

This is a great flying heli.

hello GAZAUR guy yes they are awesome especially if you run a high head speed they are alot more stable if that seems possible ,i did a review on mine in the review section, i have the POSEIDON version cause i liked the way the frame was shaped a little better and the skids i thought were more appealing but i love them both . i decided to sell mine cause ive got entirely to many helis and jets and ive decided to buy one of the BLACKHAWK gp500 that i had posted and asked questions about farther down this list ,cause im a nitro guy and it is nitro or electr. but my GAZAUR is for sale in the electr. section , see ya

I like the way it looks too and I'd like to buy one at that price but it kinda scares me that the price is so low. It makes me think they're selling them like that to get rid of their inventory and drop the heli altogether.

hey, yes it does sound fishy since the GAZAUR company have been trying to push the sales so hard , i went on their website before i bought mine as i always do when buying a new heli , and they were trying to prove that china can produce high-end products also,i know a few dealers have quit carrying kits and parts ,like, TONY HOBBY, MENS STUFF,but they have pioneered alot of ideas on helis and the engineering is magnificent like the main gear molding , i may buy both versions and leave them in kit and throw in closet to keep, when i sell my finished bird

Wasn't there just a thread about how "ugly" the Mars is? I think the poseidon has a better looking canopy. :)

yeah i thought it was but they are really unbelievable helis very powerful and rugged and servo placement is is great i think they would good to make scale heli with cause you could take entire head gear and servo cluster out in 1 unit ,that way you could do a scale cockpit with nothing showing ,and the floating flybar is wild it moves up and down. thats an idea since i fly scale large ,i may keep my POSEIDON ive been trying to sell and order an MTA or DARTH 500 md to match my CENTURY HUGHES thats on my profile pic thanks

i'd also like to add that the "gearbox" idea on the tail looks like a great idea. is gazaur the pioneer of this design? it seems like it makes too much sense to be a new idea.

How about the availability of spares and their price?

I want one soo bad, especially at that $199 price. But with the Trex 500 right around the corner, I have to resist temptation!!!

according to their web page yes they are the pioneer of the geared tail , you can tell it really helps cause you never get a wag from low head speed or a drift from doing a quick spool-up,spool-down ,and the position of the tail servo is theirs to i believe, and they are first heli that frame is inter-locked together instead of screwed, and if you come in to hot on landing the skids are made to unlock to save frame and other parts that would normally be destroyed, servos are mounted at more true degree positions on main set-up than any other it reminds me of the 3DX,and they have their pat. also on the rear blades design, and all shafts have thrust bearings, and the manual has step by step photos of JR 9303 settings, its really cool not to mention slightly larger than t-rex ,heres mine with motor showing how easy motor bearings are replaced ,once pinion is removed simply pulls apart

Just to correct one fellow member's comment about Gazaur being based in China.
I am not making a political comment (Taiwan and China); I am just saying Taiwan and China are very different in an economic sense. (most people don't really know about this, I don't blame them).

The company is a Taiwan based company (just like Thunder Tiger, Align, Century, etc). Unlike many China based companies (walkera is a famous one), Taiwan based companies have higher cost (and higher quality).
Taiwan is also the place that makes your Ipod, computers(asus, logitech, acer, etc), bicycles (giant); just so you get the point.

So they are not trying to convince you that China based company can produce high quality RC helicopter (which I think will take some time).
They are just saying that they choose to base their company in Taiwan; hence choosing quality over price (since they could easily move their plant to china and save cost to compete, but they didn't).

I'd buy one just for checking out its innovations.
I think the MFS head alone is worth it (its a 2piece design; simpler than a 3 piece design on 3DMP). The 120 degree servo mount is also cool. and the tail design is the first of its kind. Also, the wood blade is specially made to take high RPM. All in all, I love my poseidon, way more fun than my T-rex SE.

I first knew about Gazaur when I saw their owner (Yuyu) trying to post chinese in another forum(RR); which is really funny since he really wanted to talk but he is so mad that he can't speak english and couldn't wait for the transltor too. I decided to translate his posts for him when I got some free time just to help out. Now I own a poseidon and I love it.
This is why I know about their company; I don't benefit or anything; just like their product.

I chat with their owner from time to time. From what I understand, they are lowering the price to meet their distributor's request(hobby-lobby) for marketing purposes. Probably to jump start the X'mas season? If you are in this hobby long enough, then you must know this is a killer price(I don't think Gazaur can actually earn much money doing this).

I know for sure that they are not coming out with a new version or discontinuing their product line or anything. Its just marketing for X'mas.
What I know is that this price probably won't last long. So grab it while you can!

after i heard of the sale i went to their site to see if i could see what was going on and to check to see if the R&D were saying anything else about the nitro they are working on and to try to find a dealer that carries the platinum version , it took me a week to decide if i wanted the POSEIDON or the MARS and after seeing the frame on both i liked the POSEIDON better ,i ordered mine when they first hit the market and were $425 and i dont regret it at all ,and i to have the 450se got mine in may for my b-day its just collecting dust hanging from the ceiling .the GAZAUR line just has more and better engineering ,however im getting ready to order one of the HELIPRO ( blackhawk 550 gp ) with toki nitro .12 because it can be changed to electric by removing motor

The tail gb is a Ikarus idea, they have it on the Viper machines and had it out on the market a year before Gazaur. The innovation of Gazaur is to incorperate good ideas from other machines including mfs head and tail gearbox.

yea i traded a raptor for a ikarus last feb. but the case is only same, not the gears ,shaft position, idler pulleys and positions, and GAZAUR has alot more precise movements and better gear lash ,my ikarus had some delay between main and rudder , if i was doing real aggressive movements and i was standing in the right position i could hear a gear lash noise ,but other than that i do like the ikarus

Hmm,.. I didnt see any upgraded parts for sale there.
Where do you buy the metal head and tail at?

I thought that the Gazaur Heli's already came upgraded to cnc parts until i looked again.

I've always wanted a Poseidon also.

they are coming out with CNC upgrades...but don't tell anybody...haha

But really, I am not sure if its ok to tell (guess this isn't really one of those secret info).
But they already made CNC blade grips, not sure when they'll sell it though.

I personally like plastic blade grips though, since they are very good for any flying that I can do (metal might be more rigid and precise...but...to be honest...other than the top 100 pilots in the world, who else can feel any difference). Plastic is cheaper, and in my mind perform much better in crashes. Plastic either survives or break in a crash, until metal, where it might look ok but flys like crap after a crash (but you don't want to bin it because it LOOKS ok). Also, plastic gives you a breaking point, so under high stress, it'll break before your whole head assembly or expensive CF blades gets messed up.
On my T-rex SE, I actually opted to use plastic and removed the metal blade grips.

Just to contradict myself, haha. Metal grips are good. Since it does fly better...just doesn't crash better. After all, we design these flying machines to FLY, not to CRASH. If you want durability, you should go fly a zagi and not a helicopter (ppl told me that). haha.

Well, I want all the metal upgrades. I want my Mars 480 fully blinged out to the max, as well as fly good!!!

I dont' fix up my car anymore, so at least I save thousands of dollars fixing up only my heli's!!!

Thats how I was for 3 days, till I gave in to tempation and the killer $199 deal.

Plus I kept watching the Nick Maxwell video's and wanted one ever more after that.
