Jazz heat sink mod

I have my Actro motor shimmed so there isn't any play. Now I need to work on my heat sink mod. I bought a heatsink at RadioShack. Do you strip the heat shrink off the Jazz 55 and use thermo conductive Epoxy? Or do you use thermo conductive tap?

Cut a rectangle shape out of your heatshrink on the esc, use the opposite side of the jazz esc, opposite of label that has the info on it. If you cut about 1/8th inch less than the size of the heatsink it will not pull back etc. Use a thermal epoxy or paste and let set overnight using a low pressure c-clamp or something.

That gets half of the fet's, but if you want to get them all you have to take the heat shrink right off and cut the three posts connecting the boards at the motor wires, Insert a cc85hv heatsink or something similar and solder up the posts.
Makes a nice bit of difference over just the one heat sink on top.
My 55-10-32 used to thermal fairly often with only the heatsink on top (my 1915-1y is pretty amp hungry), now set up like this it rarely thermals.

Thanks for the replys. Is there anyway to buy just the CC85 Heatsinks?

Buy a cc85hv, it'll inevitably burn itself up or the governor will work so poorly that you'll have no use for it other than cooling the jazz with it's remains, lol !

I've never heard of the heatsinks being available seperate.

Its a shame I sold my 85HV. Now I see that it does have purpose. :thumbdown:
