This morning i was flying my trex600n +hyper 50 the motor was a fresh rebuild piston/ring/sleeve
I had put ceramic bearings in 5 mounths ago and they felt good so this time i did not replace them.
i was breaking it in and thig was only the 3rd tank it was running great and was very fat on fuel
When all of a sudden POP!! the rear bearing cage broke and releaced one of the balls. it ruined everything but the crank/head/carb I did not crash ,had to auto but got in down without crashing.
Man right at Christmas!! i got two little kids that i love with all my heart, Cain 1.5 years old and Autumn
4 years old we dont have a lot of money so i guess it will be some time before i get any extra money
to fix the bird. the last year has been very hard for us it seems to be one thing after another if its not our
one car breaking its medical bills from the kids getting sick but my kids are blessed with good over all
health, so i guess that we all need to step back and look at the good things in our lifes, because it can get worse. My heli is one of the only things that keeps me sane in hard times ,if I get down I will go out and fly
and when i am in the air my mind is not on my problems, that is why i fly but ill be grounded for some time
now. Nov 23 2007

I am certain that your kids will bring you more joy than a heli in the long run.

Hi Autumn,

How are you ? how's the heli ??

- Just saw your post ans I truely feel for you.
I also have kids - 8 & 5 and while they are the biggest joy on earth, we need this little space and flying or any other hobby is sometime our way out....

So... How are you doing these days...
it has been 3 weeks .. no ?

A cage breaking cannot release a ball in these bearings.

Not to be nosy but in your Signature it says that you have a Titan and other heli as well.
So why are you grounded?

How is this? Is there something unique about the construction of Ceramic bearings?

{pause for google search}

I'm back, and perhaps a little more knowledgeable.. Are ceramic bearing full compliment bearings that are slot filled or something?

No, they are made just the same as other deep groove ball bearings. Even if you completely remove the retainer, it is still difficult to get the balls out without some effort. The number and size of the balls make it necessary to force them all to one side, then you have to apply a bit of pressure to the races to get the balls out. I will try to get a picture of one for you.
