My friend and I took our intrepid to gary's house to start it up for the first time yesterday. Wow. She started on the second or third pull. It was amazing. We had a few minor problems at first but nothing bad. The gyro was reversed and the tail torque tube slipped so gary did one of his mods that made it work great. He took it up and go the throttle curves and everything right and it flew so smooth. There was about 10-15 mph winds and gary could let go of the stick for about 5 seconds before having to give a little to keep it in place. Gary and his wife, Tina, (sorry if i remembered the name wrong) were an outstanding crew. Got the headspeed measured and everything flawless. So after gary flew it for a while he asked me if I wanted to try. So i though we were going to put the training gear and possibly the buddy cord, but he just handed it right to me. 00. My wise went wide open. My hard was overheating and ready to stroke. So I spooled it up getting to feel for it. I was getting ready to fight and wrestle with it too keep it in place with the wind and small space we were at. So I took it up a few inches held a hover for a few seconds and brought it back down. I barely had to control it at all. It flew so SMOOTH. I am still in shock how smooth it was. I was expecting to have to fight with the tail and the ground affect and it just went straight up. I am sure Gary's trimming skill had to do most of that but it went were I told it to go when I had it. Gary told me I was standing like a break and I didnt blink at all. We let it cool down and my friend, Tyson, co owner and pilot in this project, did the same thing, took up for a little and brought it down. I cannot wait tell this weekend. It was a long day in school today. Its all I could think about. The weather is looking bad though, rain and snow.

I will try and get some pictures and maybe some video of it up.

And for anyone out there that thought a you cant learn on a bergen, my friend and I are living proof. My friend and I have tried littler, cheaper helis, and could not even get it to fly under control, even with no wind, sim time, and more.

Thanks Gary, Tina, and Bergen for the great oppertunity.

I'd change the title into FLIES instead of flew. When my heli digs a hole in the ground I call it "flew". When it was succesfull I call it "flies".

I think I am going to practice on the sim with the volume all the way up. Get my nerves used to it or somthing. I am relaxed with my plane so I guess it will just take time.

My friend and I flew with gary again. It was a really good day. We were able to hold the gasser for 10 to 20 seconds in a hover before we brought it down. It is stable, wow.

Best of all we got to see the new bergen turbine. Wow when that thing fires up all i can say is your jaw drops.
