View Full Version : More Actro woes?

I received my 24-5 the other day, and found that the silver-grey end can is held on by two countersunk cross-head screws. However the holes they're screwed into haven't been countersunk, so that the screw-heads stand proud of the face of the motor.

I lined the motor up on the Logo's motor mount, and it's going to end up sitting on one of the screw-heads and the opposite edge of the end-can - so it won't be lined up parallel to the mainshaft and it won't be secure. I'd say the end of the motor needs to be flush against the mount, otherwise it's going to move under load.

Have other people seen the same problem, or is this a one-off?

I don't mind removing the end-can and countersinking the holes, but I shouldn't have to do this. Seems to me like pretty shoddy QA by someone at Actro.

I also measured 0.3mm axial float in the shaft, which IMO is far too much in something that's going to spin at ~16,000 rpm. But this has already been covered in other threads.

When you mount the motor you remove the 2 screws tht hold on the silver end cover. It will be held on by the 2 motor mount bolts.

That being said most people just remove the cover anyway.

D'oh! Of course!

My apologies to Actro, and I'll just go and hide in the corner now if that's ok.
