View Full Version : JR 7703D and tail slider issues

I have the JR 7703D gyro and servo combo. I have found that the gain needs to be 63 to get ti to hold correctly, but this causes wagging. If I turn the gain down, 62-55 basically, do a piro to the right, stop in front of you, and it bounces back to the left 30-40 degree, same in the other direction. Used all other info on here and the latest copy of R/C Heli to set it up.

Linkage slop. Now when I set the gain to 63, I like the way that the tail stops, but while flying it starts hunting and osolating really bad. After landing the last time, I started checking the linkage really closly and noticed that the pitch slider to the tail is really sloppy, this is after only 8 flights and trying to get the tail dialed in. Thinking of going to carbon rods and getting rid of the metal rod on the side and to the tail. Also thinking of going to the metal pitch slider.

Another note: Using a Spektrum DX7, ATV 100, expo 50, D/R 70, also changed the limit on the gyro itself. Messed with these and the only change was the piro rate. Nothing else changes.

Any other thoughts or help would be greatly appreciated.

Hey Motowncali
You mentioned your atv are 100 and dr 70. You may want to crank up the atv to 150 per the manual.
By crancking up your ATV to 150 your D/R will need to go down in order to match the same piro rate you currently have set. This is also a good indication you may need to decrease the ball distance on your servo horn in order to get your D/R around 70.

You want your servo to swing full left and right with the travel limit on the gyro at approx 90%. RC heli's article is spot on in dialing in this gyro, let alone any other JR servo you may be experiencing issues with.

The wagging your talking about may be normal, depending on how severe. If it's oscilating side to side ever so slightly, it's likely your ok.

Also do not discount other contibuting factors. Vibrations, bent torque tube, tuned engine, balancing your tail hub with grips and blades at the same time.

Get your JR gyro setup exactly per the manual first or RC-Heli's article, if your still not satisfied, you'll need to track the ghost by looking elsewhere.

Hope this helps
