Now I know why it was so bloody twitchy

You may have read under the tempest wobble that I had a problem with my machine and did a number of things that finally got rid of the wobble. Well I stiffened up the head and removed all the weight in the paddles and was in amazement at how nimble the thing flew. I kept trying to tell the other flyers that this thing flys more twitchy that a 30 size heli on heat. This had me all week working out what I was going to do to tame it down and thinking how good some of these pilots are when they say the tempest 3D could have better roll rates. I could just fly the thing straight and level with all my skill.
Well I went down tonight to start to change the dampeners in the head when I noticed I had the bloody paddles around the wrong way. No wonder the thing kicked and bucked all over the sky. Just so glad that it did not cause a earth strike.

Yeah, I would guess it would be a little twitchy with the paddles on backwards. Thanks for the good laugh this morning.

BTW, do go back and try to run even a 60/60 combo. We are finding that the head works better in the wind when the head is as stiff as possible. Some set ups will tolerate more stiffness than even 50/60. It does pay to piddle with it a bit.

Don't feel bad, I tried to spool up a heli with one blade on backward. Fortunately there was no way it was going to get off the ground that way. :oops:

Dr.Ben I stayed with the 60/60 with the thickest shim and no weights in the paddels and I like the way it flys. I just need to start fine tunning the head now trying different delta.

I tried to fly mt shuttle rg today and the tail rotor was spining backwards !! seems I put one twist too many in the belt ...
