I've learned a great deal from watching the instructional videos on hovering, forward flight, etc. and then practicing on my RealFlight G4. One of the things I want to accomplish in RealFlight is viewing from a fixed position and flying some figure 8's. I can hover and handle some forward flight, but I lose it when I go to turn. Are there any instructional videos on flying figure 8's or ovals posted?

Thanks in advance,
Bill

There should be virtual flight instructions on g4, I can't say with certainty as I have 3.5, but I know it is on mine.

But just start with circles and not much cyclic. The aileron, elevator and rudder combined will determine how tight the circles are, you have to match the collective to this to not lose height. It is best to start flat to get used to the rudder inputs you will need, then add cyclic.

You're right, trilerian, I just hadn't gone far enough into the vitural flight instruction to see those. Thanks for the heads up!

Something I found useful while in the sim only, is to fly circles around your point of view . I found it much easier to learn the stick movements needed, because the heli always appears the same. Then once you have learned the stick movements, move it out in front as you would normally fly. It will take a little getting used to, but nothing changes except your point of view. The figure 8 is then just two circles in opposite directions. This works great for any orientation be it inverted, backwards, nose up or down. Well, worked for me anyway.
