Would you say the clear canopy can withstand crash better than the stock unit? My stock unit cracked like cracker !

Just wanted to post on how good your MT looks Libelle. Nice job on the airbrushing, really is good looking. I bought the canomod.com which is already airbrushed when it arrives. Looks good, costs too much for me to want to fly.

I need some pointers on buying an airbrush setup and a good book on how its all done. Any ideas?

Thanks redvtr1000 I like it too

I got a lot of information on airbrushing out of this book http://www.hobbylinc.com/htm/man/man1011.htm

I am using an AZTEK airbrush and FASKOLOR http://www.parmapse.com/ colors!
The best liquid masking film is from Bob Dively (search on eBay)

How-To in a few words:
Mask the whole inside of the clear canopy with 3 layers of liquid masking film, then cut the window and paint it black or gun metal, next cut and remove the masking film from the frame of the window and paint with a color of your choice, next remove the rest of the masking film and paint the color fade. Paint darker colors first! The last step is to apply a layer of white to make the colours more shiny! Give time to let each layer of color dry!
Cutting the masking film on the inside is a little bit tricky
I have done the trimming after painting, I only removed the parts on the open side of the canopy.

Thanks for the info. Looks like some good sources. My book is on the way now. After I get done satisfying the Heli-goddes for christmas I am going to snag an airbrush and get started on trying this out. I'm in the southern US, georgia to be exact. It has gotten pretty chilly here lately (30's this week) so I am finding more and more time stuck inside. Aside from building my new Titan, this should give me something to do for the winter.

Thanks again.

Here in Austria the weather is also very bad and cold, so thats why I have enough time to brush canopys
I hope I can post some more styles after this weekend!

The weather in Wisconsin is the same...COLD (-6 deg C) and snow/rain mix. That's why I need a project to keep myself out of trouble...:)

The only thing that keeps me happy is that my Christmas vacation in Florida is only 22 days away  but then I am missing my bird für two weeks

Are you from the states or Austria originally Libelle? Just ask because I would think that if I was in Austria and looking for a vacation I would probably head for the mediterranean or something.

Is it Disney World! LOL I hope not because from your post it sounded like you were looking forward to it.

Theres some good heli folks down in Florida, pack your mini-titan up and take it with you :p

I am from Austria, but my second home is Florida (Marco Island, Naples area)
If I would take the heli with me my wife will kill me, bcause of the less place in the luggage for her Abercrombie & Fitch clothes .
By the way here is my next paint job!

Libelle,

That Red Bull canopy is too cool! did you do that one or are you just gonna copy it? If you are up to doing another, I'd buy one from you.

Hallo,

I have the materials to do two more RedBull canopys, but it takes about 6-7 hours of work for the masking, unmasking and painting so nobody will pay the price für this work!

I am using custom mirror-inverted 3M vinyl and Bob Dively liquid mask!

This is the same one as the stock white one with the big side vents? Also why is there such a big base like that?

It's not the stock canopy, it's an after-market made by Proline. The large flared rear portion you see in the photo is part of the injection molding process and you cut it all off with your scissors.

I just finished-up one of these canopies in flo. green for my MT and love the looks:thumbup:
